just add a shit ton of LQ skins so everybody can be unique

Why are we not allowing real life brand names on skins? I understand wanting to keep it within the GTA universe but essentially it's going to be pretty boring when all the civilian skins have the same clothes taken from the default GTA SA skins and mixed in with different heads etc or having all the skins with plain clothes with no actual brand names etc.

I'd much rather prefer allowing real life brands/logos being used on the skins. Making skin mods with sports team jerseys, real life brands (obviously there's no reason to accept 100 similar skin mods that all have Gucci polos) but even low end clothing brands would be cool to have.

I can't agree more with this. There needs to be more change, it would look weird if we had just a bunch of repeat skins - especially when we have the potential for thousands of unique skins.

I want the skins to feel like they were meant for the game. Not some high quality ones that clearly don't seem to fit into the game. Something that just fits right in that everyone could see. Low poly would be great.

Surely somewhere down the line copyright issues may become a problem if we do that though, so it's better off being safe. Rockstar didn't do it, so there's no logical reason for us to do it. Plus, GTA lore has already converted some real life brands into their own names (and logos), like for example Ferrari is Grotti, so it wouldn't make sense for us to have both fictional and real life brands in-game. I'll tell you right off the bat so you don't feel disappointed later on - it's unlikely that you will ever see real life brands on our custom skins, and for good reason as explained above.

I doubt there would ever really be copyright issues, but I don't think I made my point very clear so I'm gonna reword it.

I don't want repeat skins, for example, skins that use the same heads for like 10 different bodies. To me, it just looks a bit goofy when we get 3 CJs in one room.

Some Turkish, Armenian & Iraqi skins would be nice.

We're trying to diversify our skins, by for example using heads that aren't overused, but-- Obviously, making low-poly heads with GTA:SA-esque textures out of thin air is no easy task, so don't expect a whole lot of our skins to be like that.

We've made sure to give them different clothing, hair and accessories whenever possible though.

Okay but when every head in the game has about 5 different skins to it, it don't feel too authentic. Neither does having the same default skin models being re-used with other heads and changing it up.

Heads can obviously be created and so can clothing, but the clothing gets pretty boring when everyone is wearing plain hoodies & plain white t-shirts.

Im supporting the idea of having real life brand names / logos being allowed.

Perhaps I want to have a skin of a player wearing a New York Knicks jersey, what do I have to wear, a custom skin with the Grove skin jersey edited onto it? Shit gets boring. I thought the whole idea of having this feature available for SA-MP servers is so people didn't have to rely on client sided skins anymore, and other players would be able to see eachother exactly as everyone else would.

Ah, I thought you would've appreciated the replies. Anyway, I won't bore you with any more details Diesel, but if you believe that our efforts are fruitless then you can always submit some of your own work here: https://forum.bayarearoleplay.com/forum/96-server-side-model-suggestions/ All contributions are welcome. \o/

Real life brand skins look ugly anyway. There's high poly dreadheads with hideous Gucci backpacks and what not. As Conspiracy mentioned, there can be copyright claims and it is utterly illogical to have real life brands and their in game counterparts to coexist. Plus, making new low poly Rock star themed heads won't be difficult to make for experienced modders which the modding team here is rich of.

I'd also love to see brown skins with turbans, old looking Hispanics and gingers.

I like the new skins they showed and I think they’ll be used because a lot of them are casual but some of the heads are from skins players otherwise avoid, like formally dressed skins. But in the future if they add more skins, it will get repetitive to have three different skins in the same room with the same head as someone said. Custom low poly heads with low quality textures that fit GTA SA would be really nice. They’re not super hard to do. I’ve made some decent models only off of combining different GTA SA face textures and just tweaking the mapping. Most top modders do that nowadays and if someone in the modding team has good skills I think they can do it easily. Cba to link examples.

As far as brand names on clothes, I think that if you want them to have the same quality and look as the default skins and the same texture sizes, you can’t really make logos and names stand out on those models (unless it’s a big logo on the shirt/jacket or maybe a cap). I tried putting a low quality Dickies logo on shorts once and it was just an orange spot in-game. As far as the shirts and caps go, I think it’s easier to leave them blank so people can have more freedom of role playing what they wear. If you put the Nike logo on a shirt, that pretty much nails what people will think when they see the skin, and it’d be harder for him to role play it as say Adidas, whereas it would be easier for him and the public if it was just blank. That’s why I like that barely any GTA SA skins have logos or brand names visible. I think if people want more details they can just get a mod.

As far as suggestions - more of the unused skins and rigged cutscene skins. Always thought those two Grove guys looked cool (they’re rigged) and Jose from the low rider cutscene and the basehead from B-Dup’s apartment cutscene (as well as B-Dup). Or at least use their heads on more custom clothes.

Me and tw1ster spent an entire 6 hours last week going through all of them, and even testing them in-game - check out the following thread if you'd like to learn more:

Yes, yes, yes, everyone wants prison skins. I'd love to get some made too, but there's a lot of variations of them that need to be made. Practically one for every race/gender. It's going to take time but I want to try and get them made as well.

Those are pretty good, too bad the creator didn’t do them that good. There’s two more unused skins that I didn’t see on there of two Grove guys (baldie and mustache guy, not the hoodie and bandana ones) dressed in green shirts. They’re rigged and they looked fine when I tested them awhile back. I think they were in cutscene.img and were called something like fam4 and fam5. And they don’t have the weird big cutscene textures with eyeball mapping.

I think it would be awesome if we could get some skins from GTA san beta

I'd like skins that look like white gang members.  There really aren't any skins included with SAMP.

The only skins that look like gang members are black and Hispanic.  White gang roleplayers on other

servers like LSRP where the style of dress is influenced by eses can use Hispanic skins and not worry

about breaking immersion too much.  Here, though, the style that Peckerwoods rock in Nor Cal is

significantly different than their So Cal counterparts.

For example, a So Cal wood might wear a flannel shirt buttoned all the way up, khaki Dickies and

a pair of Chuck Taylors.  Obviously influenced by eses.  Here in Nor Cal, you'd be more likely to

find peckerwoods rocking oversized t-shirts, jeans, and basketball shoes like Nike Air Max.

If you want examples from skins that have been made for specific characters in the past,

a wood from So Cal might dress like this:

ripper_outside.jpg

And a wood from Nor Cal might dress like this:

I'm not gonna worry about touching on tattoos, but I think some skins that look similar to the

wood from Nor Cal would be nice.  It would give people roleplaying with factions like FAIM

more options to choose from and, in my opinion, would help keep everyone immersed.

EDIT:
Skins like the one in the second image are fairly ambiguous as well.  Regular civilians can

use them without having to worry about looking like a gang banger.

Yes.

I'm fine with the idea of not adding very specific skins or skins with tattoo or other similarities that might solely be gated to a very few, but having a male feminist skin seems quite questionable since it's quite a specific skin for a very minority. It seems like a waste of work or slot. It does seem like an acceptable skin, but the text is very much pandering a really, really tiny minority of one or two players that want to show how much they worship women as superior.

It seems a tad absurd that someone allowed this skin.
