RPing car crashes

When I was RPing on LS-RP I was used to seeing people crash into one another, and just say "/b skip? "/b yes". I'm wondering what everyone elses opinion on this is. Should RPing car crashes be mandatory or are they are a complete waste of time?

I feel like rping car crashes has a list of pros and cons to it. But overall I feel like if all parties want to skip, it's up to them it shouldn't be mandatory.

Nothing really too complicated to discuss or decide on here, car crashes are to be roleplayed unless all parties involved decide on otherwise OOCly.

Factors to be taken into account include:

  • Car crash roleplay is fruitless more than half of the time
  • Lag may or may not play in scenarios like these
  • Most of us don't know how to drive properly in real life
  • ... yet we drive the fastest cars in-game
  • SF is very small and urbanized, meaning these interactions will be more common
  • SF's road infrastructure is mediocre in certain areas, e.g. it has way too many slopes
  • Getting into ~5 car crashes a day is not impossible, even for the best drivers
  • ... absolutely no one wants to spend ~3 hours a day roleplaying car crashes

I believe what the topic's Author wanted to point out here is that there are a lot of people out there abusing this rule. Given the discretion in the involved parties hands comes up with a lot of car-crashes that should be taken IC'ly but are handled and skipped OOC'ly - because of their agreement to be like that.

On the other hand, I can't come up with a better solution. As you said, there are various of reasons why the rule stands like this.

I believe that the only solution to this problem is the playerbase awareness. We should be aware that If we don't take this more seriously and build up a better basis on which direction this server would go to, this server would turn to be the same thing as LSRP. Everything is up to us.

I'm more than sure that the playerbase we have right now is fully capable of roleplaying around cars properly, but you have to look at this aspect from a gaming community perspective - no platform will ever be perfect, and there will always be players with less experience and or knowledge.

Don't feel upset over something small like this and instead try to stay positive, maybe by contributing to the realistic atmosphere in another way. :P

No doubt in this community.I didn't say anything about that and I truly believe that this will be something different, unique and better.

The number of car crashes and by extension the number of car crashes skipped, in a server, is very directly correlated to the server's quality.

The relationship isn't causal in anyway though. It's useless to force people to RP car crashes even if all concerned parties agree to skip, because this will NOT lead to good roleplay scenarios.

As long as realistic driving is enforced decently and the playerbase doesn't go to shit though, driving will be immersive. If neither of those holds true then you're not going to have any fun playing here regardless of whether the management puts in a rule forcing certain IC situations to be RPed, since all they can do is ensure the presence of RP, not the quality of RP (except extremes).

We should really enforce realistic driving through the DMV test and maybe a dedicated rule in regards to driving, so people understand how a car should be used. I think that most people disregard this because of the way the game works. It's really fast placed, so driving realistic is hard, since the cars accelerate really fast, they can be easily moved and generally feel like they are really light, although they should be heavy.

I don't think that crashes should always be roleplayed, that should be up to the parties involved.

This would rarely be a thing if streetlights and cameras were implemented. I'd like for a script of if an individual skips every 5 lights, they'd be fined on their vehicle.

im totally ok with skipping that roleplay, honestly, if i dont have a time for that, ofc, but if im free, why not?

King Enemy (Member) ·

People are just gonna crash into players just to create roleplay. IMO if both players wanna skip it should.

I find servers that have this is soo annoying, especially when it's on every streetlight. Not only that but what happens if you're driving a car that's not yours? Who gets find? On most servers the script is automatically fines the driver, not the car owner.

Minor accidents shouldn't be roleplayed unless BOTH parties wanna RP it. Conspiracy made a good point; what's the benefit? It's not fun, it happens a lot, and there's nowhere to go with it most times. If you're pulling some kind of scam or something, that's fine, but forcing other players to site through monotonous garbage roleplay just cause is wrong.

If you had to roleplay every single car crash, 99 percent of your activity in game would be roleplaying them.

To add, San Fierro is a hilly city, and cars in GTA San Andreas don't stick to the ground all that well.

The person who will get fined is the owner of the vehicle, just like in real life. That's how it should be at least.

The annoying factor is still there though, plus not every city (in the US at least) has them.

That's true, I guess in poor places like Alabama and stuff. I don't do know so much about San Franciso.

don't shit on alabamber

We should always RP the car crashes, no matter the lag etc.

The only thing I never cared for about car crashes was when police were in mid-pursuit and they crashed or spun out, they never seemed to ask to skip or role-play a crash, but instead just kept on driving. I guess that could just be solved with a report though. I definitely think you should be allowed to skip a crash as long as both parties agree as stated in this thread!
