It's been an ongoing topic and the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) repealed net neutrality. Net neutrality is the principle that Internet service providers and governments regulating the Internet must treat all data on the Internet the same, and not discriminate or charge differentially by user, content, website, platform, application, type of attached equipment, or method of communication. This issue has been sent to Congress and it will soon be decided what the final outcome will be.
I'm pro-Net Neutrality myself, and this doesn't affect me because I don't live in the US and we have NN laws in place through the EU, but the potential repeal is not as bad as people make it out to be and so many people are absurdly freaking out about this thinking it is the end of the internet. Title II was not in effect before 2015 and the internet was fine. This will largely allow ISPs to screw over big corporations like Netflix, throttling their speed to prioritize rivals they're partnered with, putting Netflix in a situation where they have to make a multi-million dollar deal with them to ensure they get the fastest speed to ensure their customers don't end their subscription. This could result in Netflix prices slightly increasing to cover up the costs, although I don't think it would really have a huge impact.
What I find ironic is how large corporations like Reddit, Google and Twitter are so in favor of Net Neutrality, calling the repeal the end of the open and free internet, when they actively censor people for dissident opinions like the recent Twitter purge yesterday. I think that a free and open internet shouldn't be expected just for internet providers but also major corporations like Google and Twitter to stop thought-policing.

They ban and quarantine many right-wing subreddits for bogus reasons, they alter the algorithm so only left-wing subreddits get exposure on the top of r/all and have admitted to blacklisting certain subreddits from getting on the front page, when people complained about the censorship the Reddit CEO himself was caught editing user comments that were talking negatively of him to present them in a bad light, so petty. What happens all across Reddit is pathetic, the worse is paid shills on Reddit manipulating the platform.
This is very fair imho. Because nobody owns the internet, no single person or organization can control the internet in its entirety. The internet is basically just like a concept than an actual tangible entity, it simply relies on a physical infrastructure that roams/connects networks to other networks, and that's the beauty of it, it definitely should not be restricted and it should be applied the same to everyone else under the same price.
