Ight so i never seen this on no server but if they were a babershop faction how would it work? would they rp cutting your hair or some? like how?
Babershop Faction? How would it work?
Started by Dopey,
I actually plan on hopefully buying a barbershop in Garcia and having my own line of hair products and such. There's nothing to that kind of rp. You cut hair, do high lights, give guys a shave. It's largely just casual rp. I plan on doing a barbershop / nail salon mix where we give manicures and stuff.
Somebody could just open up a barber shop. Don't think it's factionworthy. When someone says faction I think of organization.

That too lmao.
First thing that comes to mind is the movie Barber Shop. I think RPing Barbershop in an area ran by a certain or multiple factions would be cool, you get to meet all of the members without actually getting affiliated with them and perhaps getting to know them, becoming neutral between your faction and their faction. As for what would you do? Well I never ran or been in one but I'd imagine you'd google names of common haircuts and just list them as available haircuts to get in your shop. Conversate with the people your cutting hair too, get them to become your clients, creating neighborhood RP as well in wherever neighborhood you're at, and profiting at the same time.
But I'm not expert, so I wouldn't know if that's how it would work. All I do know is that if you're gonna do it, do it with friends, could get boring all by yourself.
/me cuts hair
Barber shop would work better just as a business I think.
Akuji Kai ran a pretty successful barber shop on LSRP that was ran by like two individuals within the faction that were dedicated to bringing rp to it. If ya got people willing to actually rp in and around your business, then it's worth having as it can bring a lot of casual rp.
While a faction solely evolving around a barbershop is a very limited thing (realistically, your progress is limited to make a prettier hair studio and eventually employ a staff of 3-5 people to run it with and for you, if you have success), a barbershop as legal front (or part of the business operations of a larger and mostly legal business conglomerate) can be fun and evolve into all kind of directions.
I've not played back then to see the mentioned Akuji-barbershop, but taking in account what I just said above, it's no big surprise to me that in my time on LSRP, Samuel_Lupo's barbershop ran longer than any other I saw pop up in three years, for the simple reason that he was not limiting himself to this very barbershop but , as described, used it as part/legal front of a bigger operation, the d'Aquila crime family in the mentioned case.
Specially businesses like (barber-)shops, restaurants and such, but even clubs and betshops back in the day, often potentially suffer from the risk of not right away bringing the desired success (usually, money, also: prestige), just the more when it's new businesses trying to establish themselves in the field, or occupy niche markets that do not attract audience in a typical way (meaning, by offering some scripted product).
If a business project is run as part of an evolving faction, such bad times (that occasionaly also hit established businesses) can be overcome more easily, both by the faction helping out with operations if needed, as well as the operating character shifting focus to support other members of the faction in their enterprises more, if they seem more profitable. This circle eventually ends up with the barbershop opened again to launder the money, as was mentione above already.
Barber shops aren't gangs. They're businesses.

A faction isn't necessarily a gang..

Not every faction has to be a gang, hence why their is something called a legal faction. But yeah barbershops would fall under businesses unless you start a faction of just like people living in a neighborhood and the barbershop is a huge aspect of your role play.

Also to answer your question, I'm a little confused so idk If I answered it right. Yes you would rp with /mes and /dos just like you would for any other situation, they're some role players who really like to go in depth with that they're doing and actually role play going through detail of what they're doing and then they're some that will just be like /me cuts the back /me lines up the front /me gives John_Doe a blowout /me does good. So yeah I think that answered what you're asking?

Reported for PG.
this would be the place to hear all of the city's drama thats going on lmao
in regards of the faction theme, a barber shop suits literally every kind of faction, as it can be adjusted to the theme. Gangs need their hair cut, too.
Great idea if you can make it interesting and engaging for all parties involved. Repeatedly doing /me's to describe cutting hair all day can be pretty boring. Screw up people's haircuts, have some crazy ass people working there, get up on the latest drama, etc.
Watch Barbershop 3
Perhaps a tattoo/ink shop? That shit would be amazing.
If you hope to portray one in a Dominican, Puerto Rican or Black ghetto you'd have to go to one yourself if you haven't gone there. It's rather normal, actually. Random people come in and dap up everyone and talk shit (not insulting people just random shit) and then get out. A lot of drunk people / people on drugs / mentally ill people come in and do the same thing.
