As stated on Discord, I thought I'd make a public topic to get everyone on the same page. We're scrambling at the finish line, which is embarrassing, but we're hammering out details to at least get the server to a point where people can play while we finish up everything else. @kane and @widqk have been a giant help in getting us to this point, so I want to first thank them both for actually wanting to help out in seeing this project through from a development standpoint. @tw1ster and the modding/mapping team are another ensemble that deserves some recognition for their aesthetic contributions towards this server.
@Chilli943 with the UCP and so many others I really want to properly thank right now but this isn't the topic to go into all of that, just know I'm very thankful for you all and everything you have contributed thus far. Ultimately I'd like to just thank everyone really. From the donators all the way to our regulars on Discord with the regular chats we have about the server and the direction we have in mind.
- We will not have a UCP at launch, it will come and it will be amazing and I want Chilli to know he has all the time in the world and not to rush. Registration will stay ingame as you've all witnessed during the test. With you logging into the server with your main name(ex DamianC) and creating and or logging into your characters from there.
- @kane has came in like a hurricane and really boosted the server up towards a more playable level. I really can't thank this angel sent person enough for his contributions. From jobs to DMV we're pretty much covered.
So what is there left? You're most likely asking.
- I'm currently talking with @Southclaws about the state of the script and where we're going from a technical point of view. I've been part of a large server in the past where it was all about updates and fun stuff and it took so much of a toll my last few years there was dedicated solely towards fixing it. I'm not about to go through that again so we're going to get that straightened out before anything happens.
After that the establishment system will be good for testing and if all goes well we'll definitely have another public test before launch. It's really the only thing we're waiting on from this point. After that will be the porting over of the vehicle system which shouldn't be as tedious.
Drugs
We had a discussion on Discord about this and I'm fully aware it's not going to be something everyone is going to enjoy hearing. But I've made a decision that drug names will be vague and more R* friendly. Meaning we will not be having drugs in our future named Meth, Crack, Cocaine, etc. It's not how R* intended their games to be so we're going to respect that here. Will that mean we will be the word police ingame? No, I can't dictate how or what you choose to call the drugs ingame, but from an official standpoint they will be kept vague nicknames.
Donations
First, thankyou thankyou thankyou from the people that donated 1 cent to the people that donated however much many dollars. Whether I work on this project in my free time or not one thing I don't play around with is with a person's investment towards my work. You really don't have to give us a dime, this isn't your bill, your rent, nor is it any obligation towards you yet you did so anyway. That will always be appreciated and I'm making sure a list is kept and up todate with everyone's email and how much so that you can be properly credited when the donation system is in place.
Another piece I wanted to touch up on is the donation system we got in the works:
QuoteI figured the talk of donation system was going to happen soon so why not start it off now. As I explained to Rehasher the way I like to treat donation perks are exactly as that, perks. Perks, being things that are not necessary/mandatory for your roleplay. Perks, as in extra aesthetics towards your roleplay story. Nothing P2W, something that always keeps the playing field fair for everyone else, and an overall just a nice little thankyou basket for the players keeping the server alive.
But what about the players keeping the server alive by generally being on 24/7 and keeping the blood running through the veins? The ones who don't really have access to funds, a credit card, and or generally not of age? Surely we should find ways to thank them as well. Which is why I want to introduce a Merit System, not fully thought out of course so I welcome suggestions and ideas to really flesh it out some more.
My idea of a merit system is to award some type of point to a person every x amount of hours. After so many points built on their main account, not the character, they can either convert it into a name change, a number change, a week of silver, etc. All if they have an adequate amount of points for each selection of course.
Still a work in progress and you'll get the full layout of the idea during launch. @tw1ster and the staff team have been a major help in this area because I like to throw out a lot of ideas and I'm rarely good at staying focused and putting it together so once again thankyou to you guys.
This isn't an ideal rundown topic but I like being as honest as possible with everyone as we get to where we need to be. I hope yall had a good Kwanzaa and let's hope for some type of server early next year!
