You & Your Character

If you're new and don't know where to start your roleplay adventure from, then this is the "guide" for you.

Answer yourself these questions before going in-game:

Age

  • What is the age of your character? Will they be a toddler, a teenager, a fully grown man or woman, or maybe a grandpa? Decide which is more interesting for you to roleplay, but keep in mind that developing your character and aging him up in-game with time would bring even more fun and satisfaction. It's a bit hard roleplaying characters between the ages of 1 and 10 though - you will need more effort and experience for that, so I highly suggest people that are new to create a teenager at first, or at least an adult. Remember that you also have to choose a date of birth!

Past

  • Was he born in the county, the ghetto or maybe a gated community in the richest parts of San Fierro? You have to set a small story for your character - where did he come form, who are his parents, and how did he grow up. Was he treated badly in his childhood or was he living in paradise? You have to know the past of your character in order to keep developing his life in-game. I suggest you to leave a few blank spots and keep the OOCly made-up story as small as possible.

Characteristics

  • What's the color of his hair, eyes, skin tone? What clothes does his like - any particular brands? Does he have any piercings, or maybe tattoos? Does he wear glasses or contact lenses? Is he obese, fat, slim or downright anorexic? Is he ugly or attractive? If your character is a female, what kind of make-up does she put on? You have to go into deep detail when answering these questions to yourself, because they will be the basis of your character development.

Life Goal

  • Is he or she the romantic type who searches for relationships? Would they rather sleep with every second person in sight, or are they simply outgoing and like visiting parties, trying out new things, and in general enjoying life to the fullest?
  • Does he seek money? Is your character a hard worker or would he rather risk everything in order to get some extra cash? What is his current source of income, if he has one? Where does he live - does he want to move out, maybe find a better and more safer place? What motivates your character to constantly crave for money? Does he steal and then resell items? Does he work at the local store? Does he sell any narcotics, stolen cellphones, fake IDs, or maybe firearms? Or maybe your character is simply a formal businessman or businesswoman? Perhaps he is a construction worker, or maybe he works in the fast-food industry as a deliver boy, soon to be a chef?
  • Is he or she the family type? Does your character dream of becoming a father or mother one day? Would they rather have a boy or girl as a child, or maybe both? Is he or she struggling to find a partner? Can he afford being a parent and eventually raising a child? Does your character have the needed skills in order to be a good parent, and if not is he trying to improve, how? If your character is old enough, is he married and with children, and if not then why?
  • Is your character the learning type, does he seek knowledge? Would he rather stay at home and read books instead of going out with friends? Does he go to the library often? What are his favorite subjects, what does he like reading? What is he fond of, maybe physics, business studies, design and technology, history, geography, math, language learning, music, religion and or psychology? Is your character good in studying - if not, is he trying to improve and how? Does he go to school or university, what is his favorite subject there, what are his grades?
  • Is he or she the outgoing type? Does your character care about anything other than parties and having fun? Would he rather do pranks, hang out with friends and enjoy life, or the exact opposite?
  • What's your character's dream? What does he want to be when he grows up? A movie-star, or maybe something else? Does he want to be famous or just work in the local grocery store? Does he want to be a criminal - can he be a successful one? Does he want to work in a large corporation, maybe have a busy lifestyle?

Personality

  • Is your character grouchy or nice? Does he treat others the same way he wants to be treated? Is your character evil-minded or just likes making silly pranks? Does he want to conquer the world by storm or just be the local thug? Does he smile often, is he friendly towards strangers?
  • Is your character shy or outgoing? Would he rather surround himself with people he only trusts, or is he accepting of new faces? Does your character have a social life? Does he have any friends, and if not is he trying to make any? Does he meet new people often?
  • Is your character playful or serious? Does your character take everything seriously due to his life-time goals and past? How does your character react when he sees people that are under the influence of drugs or alcohol? Does he accept such behavior and does he think it's okay? Does your character have any hobbies? Does he skip rope or maybe play football? What sports does he like? Is he concerned only about his life-time goals, to the point where he doesn't have any hobbies?
  • Is your character lazy or active? Is he a couch-potato who spends hours every day watching television and playing video games, or is your character interested in sports, being the active and outgoing type of person? Is his laziness causing problems to him and his health? Does he work out, if so how, when and where?
  • Is your character sloppy or neat? Does he take good care of his body and clothing? Does he take showers too often or is he usually stinky? Is your character fanatically obsessed with cleaning - is his home a perfect, sparkling paradise?

Last but not least, a piece of advice - do not set a permanent standard for your character, let his life progress in-game and slowly develop.
