Remove badge colors, it's same because people often MG, cops and medics shouldn't have coloured names, they should wear uniforms and have badges, which means if you are in PD and you go on duty, you take a faction car and wear a proper uniform, factions should have badges to /showbadge ID. The command will show their position within faction, age, name, sex and also ICly it will include their picture. This suggestion is to expand abilities of roleplay, it would become possible to kidnap a cop, wear their uniform, you just RP it and admin will change your skin to uniform and players wont MG like "Your name is not blue so you are not a real cop".
Badge colors.
Started by Nemo,
It will bring a lot of quality RP, you would be able to kidnap a medic or steal medics uniform without kidnapping anyone, wear the uniform and sneak into the hospital private areas like stuff room. You could somehow get cop uniform by stealing it or kidnapping a cop and sneak into precincts, however you won't be able to open doors inside but still. You could do a lot of things, it won't give much advantages OOCly but it will give a lot opportunities to RP.
Awesome idea, will be very useful for detectives. Fully support. /onduty command should still exist but it shouldn't change the nametag color.
Interesting suggestion, you have my support.
I support the general concept but I think it would be better to have the badge just display the Department Name, Rank, Badge Number. This is in line with most, if not all, badge schemes. I have not heard of a badge with name, sex, age, and a picture yet. This may be included in a wallet that some agencies might carry at a very long stretch.
+1

Well sure, my suggestion is about badge color, I am not hundred percent sure what the badge should look like.
This would give criminals more way RP their character to steal things such as drugs, kidnap a medic, steal his uniform go into the hospital in the back room take painkillers and sell them on the street. +1
I dunno, I do like the concept of this idea but I can also picture a bunch of level ones stealing cop uniforms and going around "arresting" people.
Some regulations should be put down, like you should have an actual good IC reason to take their uniform.
If that could happen, I support this suggestion.

Yeah, it sounds like a great idea, but should probably only be done with admin permission and sufficient IC reasoning imo.

You can't steal uniform without an admin, it's generally impossible because faction skins are restricted, only admin can change your skin to a restricted one, that's why it won't be abused. You RP stealing the uniform, report for an admin, explain the situation and they change your skin.
I feel like most of you guys are commenting just to comment. First, skins cant be changed without an admin. Even if they could, stop saying low levels doing this and that, you forget that cops can actually defend themselves and even if they can’t it wont be common for someone to randomly steal a cop uniform for sure. It will mostly be used for organized crimes. And the nametag thingy, cops should not have blue nametags, I havent seen the blue nametag thingy for cops in any server except LSRP.
Well, you have a point. However, your name being red/blue/green or whatever will not (or should not) influence the way you role play. If someone is metagaming about you, you should just report him.
I think that being at a scene where 5 people have blue names, 3 have red names and the other 5 have white names is easier to manage than 13 white names (nametags). It's easier to go around that way. Detectives would have a command to change their nametag's color either way so you can't really abuse said feature.

I agree with this.
In my eyes the name colour kind of resembles a uniform or visible affiliation to that particular agency. Whether that be a police officer in full uniform, or a detective with a visible badge.
In terms of stealing uniforms/badges/guns/drugs or whatever from officers, I just can't see that being beneficial to roleplay 99% of the time and is more likely to be abused. It could be done with admin permission but again I think this would need to be heavily regulated and would require good reasoning to prevent abuse.
And you are both wrong. The only advantage of the coloured badge is ability to MG. If I RP stealing cop uniform, I can't pretend to be one, players will mostly MG.

About abuse and admin permission, I already talked about it but still. You can't possibly get uniform without an admin, its impossible scriptwise. If you RP stealing uniform, you have no choice but to report for an admin so they can change your skin with admin commands, no other choice because faction skins are restricted and only admin can set your skin to a faction one.

Those are our opinions, and opinions can't be wrong. Colored names serve a purpose. There are pros and cons to this, as for any other feature, rule and so on.
Metagaming is against the rules. If you see someone breaking a rule, you should report them, especially if you know they are going to be breaking rules. Gather evidence, file a report. It's like saying to not implement any guns because some people will DM.
Coloring the names will provide less confusion and more variety throughout the server. Keeping them all white will make it hard to see who is who in situations that involve both civilians and police/medics/prison guards/etc. but will indeed reduce Metagaming under the circumstances that you are mentioning - which are not that common.
P.S. If an admin is to give you a uniform, they should be able to set your name's color as well. That would be a good solution to this problem.
I love this idea +1.

They can't temporary set your name color, then they will have to stick around until you are done with whatever you are rolelaying. Also the example you provided is what I call MG, you can't clearly see if situation include cops, thats how its supposed to be, you need to take a look at uniforms.
To expand on this suggestion, I think instead of an admin having to change your skin, the uniforms should be part of the inventory system. When used, you have the selection of LEO skins(or medical if you stole their medical unifom) so that you can choose one to fit your race.
There shouldn't be nametag colors, supporting.
