I live in Chicago and I hate it to the fullest extent. It's annoying af irl when people keep bringing up the crime rates and shit then when you come to samp to blow off steam you just to see some European rolling around typing "EBK, GDK, WE FROM CHIRAQ" and all that bullshit.

Because it's 2017 and RP isn't doing good at all, back in the days we used to have realistic factions, like GD, Kilo, CWA, Crips & Bloods. But the "new" generation kicked in and it turned to be more about guns/money rather then roleplay, and it's all about friends. That's why it is getting so much hate. Hopefully it won't be bad in this community, where if you're friends with an OG, you get everything, and if not, you get none. Character development is everything we need.

im p sure everybody would be fine with a chicago set being portrayed well, its not the gangs its the ppl who run the gangs (aka listens to chief keef once > starts a chicago gang with zero information)
It's not even about realism. It's about Chiraq gangs gaining a bad reputation for typically being unchill DMers that ruin RP for other factions. I wouldn't have a problem with a decent Chicago gang.

To be real, the only black street gangs I've seen being RP'd "over and over" again are Crips and Bloods. And whenever that new Chicago faction comes out, it automatically gets hate on its first page without people evening seeing screenshots.

Okay show us a legit screenshot in a Chicago gang rp faction that isn't 1. Poorly edited with photoscape. 2. Has HQ skin mods and HQ mods in general 3. Doesn't involve dm and 4. One from a faction that at least last more then a few weeks. I'll gladly wait.
That is the reason why they're taken as a joke.
If you want to make a Chicago faction do it, it's a game just don't expect anyone to take you seriously. AND you should not be worried about what others have to say on this game. Just do you and have fun. People will always have opinions.

if you want to do a Midwest gang, you have to do one that no one really heard of instead of the typical GDs and BDs. for example, like 70 percent of the sa-mp community didn't even know the variety and large number of gangs in Chicago, and the different ethnicities until people like "chicagoghostface" started making these type of gangs, and made Midwest factions more tolerable.
so if you're going to do a Midwest gang you shouldn't the typical GDs and BDs but something a bit more unique. And I swear, you will and can have a good number of people in your faction if you actually portray it right, not RP like people from Chicago are a different species of human that just kill niggas for a living lmao

Honestly if I was anyone trying to make a gang I would try and keep it less tied to real life and more unique to GTA as I could. It's hard to accurately portray any gang with the kind of environment there is on a server compared to real life. It's just a huge uphill challenge to try and re-enact what you see on film and what you can read when it comes to gangs and how they operate.

Yes, crp/prp (dm servers) weren't good I played lsrp since 2010 so I'm pretty sure I've been playing longer then you if that's what you're trying to refer to. No one just comes on the server and brings their ooc and ic hate, except maybe the people you probably hang around that rp Chicago gangs. Not the mature role players that actually roleplay/portray a realistic legit concept.. So don't mix a small group of people with the majority of the server lol.
cuz most of em turn ultimately turn into DM factions and shut down almost instantly cause they cannot uphold a certain standard of RP.
although u can hmu and we can script some top notch RP
