As found in the video, you get the cash from the fare scriptwisely when the client leaves the taxi. I'm proposing to alter that with the goal that the client needs to pay himself instead of letting the script to carry out the activity and the fare would simply demonstrate the amount it would cost him if the driver doesn't know the amount to fine his client from A to B. That will be valuable on the off chance that you are intending to trick the driver and scam him.
Agreed, because it is just PowerGaming if a client steps out and his/her money will be automatically taken by the script, then it will be transferred to the driver. That is not good. So, they should be able to pay on their own and roleplay it.
I feel bad for taxi driver role players. People jump out of their cab without paying (and get no repercussions), gang members hop in their cabs just to rob them at shady alleys, mobsters extort them like it's a Goodfellas movie, they get paid shit, people avoid using their services because cars are affordable and the map is so small it's not a hassle to just run to your location, and to top it all off their would be main source of role play (small talk) is non-existent because they can't type and drive at the same time. I think we should let them have this one to be honest. I feel like any suggestion which is based around a rare scamming opportunity over a what would be the common normality (people paying for a service) doesn't do the system any favors. "Powergame" aside there is no argument other than scamming as to why someone would leave his cab ride in-game without paying.
An alternative is to allow the taxi drivers to “offer” a fare to the player and they could either accept or decline it then it would take their money by script if they exit the vehicle or the fare is ended. This was suggested by a staff member before and it isn't a bad idea that would be fair for all parties involved.
What if the taxi driver doesn't know how much to fine his client for the ride so he turns on the fare to do the job for him and the client is planning to scam? I hope u got the point.
What I mean is what if the taxi driver wants to /always/ enable the fare so he knows how much to fine his clients for this ride and the client wants to scam but he needs to accept the fare to get a ride with this taxi driver? I don't know how to explain it, just forget it lol.
You mean, if a player accepts the fare from driver. But in the end, a player will see the amount of cash which he/she has to pay but he/she won't? So, you want the player to be able to see the fare but won't pay? Because for whatever IC reasons, the player scams driver?
- Taxi driver offers the rider the choice of using the fare/meter/ whatever you'd like to call it.
- Rider accepts.
- You'll now lose the money when the fare ends.
It's the best way I can see to a compromise while making it fair for both parties unless someone has a better idea to contribute to it.
You'll never know how much the totals going to be unless you choose to pay the taxi driver upfront and not use a meter. The fare amount charges every 3 seconds.
The taxi driver can start the fare meter at any time with /taxi start or a key bind. It shouldn't matter if a player is in the back seat or not, as the meter would only be used as indication. The taxi driver can also be offered to be paid upfront.
When arrived at the destination the taxi driver does /taxi stop, and it shows up a dialog on the customer's screen saying "Press (Keybind) to pay the taxi driver." which would equal to doing /pay (ID) (the amount). It would make it so easy people would just do the keybind instead of doing /pay. If they ignore the dialog, they'd just step out and disregard the message.
I dislike the idea that the money would be taken from you automatically when you exit as it's powergame. The price on the fare meter should only be used as indication, and the customer should be left with a choice whether to pay or not.
Well the fare idea is really good idea since irl taxies have a real fare..
So the rider chooses if he wants a fare price or the driver/station price..
And if I'm a taxi driver I would not start the drive without getting the money and if the rider asks for fare and ran out without paying, the driver can rp having a dash cam etc and he can go to the police like irl.. or chase the guy..
