Should weapons disappear when you die or stay?

You know when you get killed right you're in this /accept death mode state and you have to wait until 60 seconds to re spawn? On ls-rp when you're in that death mode state you lose your weapon it's gone, so the person who killed you and want that Colt you got, they can't take it because it just disappeared like harry potter spell. But on RC-RP when you're in that death mode state you still have your weapon, which means lil' john john can take your weapon or a cop can confiscate your weapon. But if nobody took your weapon and you /accept death (ON RC-RP) you keep your gun which keeps the gun economy from plumishing and keeping the weapon prices the same instead of it going up making it unrealistic. Even if you have the ability to keep your gun  when you're injured but when you /accept death it disappears it's ls-rp death process all over again which means the weapons in the server could still drop.

My first reaction was that LS-RP's system is just fine, but on second thought it may not be a bad idea actually. Logically, if your character respawns, so should your guns. I hardly see any reason as to why everything on you would remain (like your phone, clothing items, cash, etc) but not your gun. This is given, of course, nobody steals from your brutally wounded self or dead corpse before respawning. I do see the economic impact from this, if the guns despawn on accepting death, then it increases demand (because people would have to buy new guns more often) and consequently inflates the prices.

well RC-RP is living proof that RP servers won't go wild trigger happy from something like this. This should include all items in your inventory too actually. Also, it actually very increases police RP to be a detective, something as little as being able to take evidence from a dead body in a crime scene.. Evidence such as drugs, guns, and ammo. But, If you're taken by EMS and brought to the hospital, it's only realistic that you get your weapons and other items confiscated though lol. This could increase criminal RP too, being able to take evidence away from the crime scene and so on. There has to be rules based on this tho so it doesn't go haywire.

If you actually think about it, this is very much a must so the economy or gun prices doesn't go up by the millions out of no where... Only realistic way that the gun prices should go up if is police crack down on a official faction that was supplying guns into the server. Very smart suggestion sir, I never thought about this

I feel like you should be able to pick up a weapon from a dead body, if they die and respawn and no one's taken it then the gun should disappear. Plain simple and fair.

mike2raw (Member) ·

Nah they should disappear,  sure it adds realism but it also ruins the "video game" aspect and will only benefit the people who constantly complain and say "getting guns on rp servers are near impossible"  the way that most people are used to is the best way in my opinion.

maybe or maybe not this idea could be like a experiment for a little to see how the server goes

I like the idea of weapons staying on you after you die (unless someone takes it). The demand for weapons on role play servers is way too high. A person really only needs one gun for a lifetime, but because players in our game die so much and respawn without one, they need a lot of them. Gun dealers are forced to sell abnormal amounts of weaponry because street gangs, the factions who need them the most, tend to be involved in beef/war and there's daily casualties. Selling them a few guns a week doesn't amount to much in that environment. But if players kept their weapons upon death, then those few guns would amount to something and last longer, there also won't be pressure on gun dealers to sell crazy amounts of weaponry to support the server.

Pros: whether guns are easy or hard to get will matter less; gun dealers can sell normal amounts of weapons and even just selling a few will do the trick; the gun market won't be the most profitable market on the server, instead it will be more balanced and close to the drug market in profit; less incentives for sellers to abuse the gun market; less players will whine about losing guns when they die; less reports and refunds for admins to deal with.

Cons: there's only two major cons I can think of. One is that it will contribute to players who play solely for shootouts and action - after they die with no consequences, they can respawn and restart their robbing/shooting spree. Admins will have to be extra alert for brigades like that and shut them down. The other con is that if guns flood the streets, they'll become worthless. If I somehow manage to find 20 handguns and I keep the one on me whenever I die, and I keep all my guns whenever I namechange, I'll probably never have to buy another gun for as long as I play on the server, and in return I won't have to role play with a gun dealer anymore.

And on another note, under this system, I think it'll be the best if it's the norm for cops to confiscate the guns of suspects they kill, otherwise there's nothing stopping players from suiciding by cops - they skip jail time and keep their guns. They should lose their guns at least.

I'm all for it. No more having to keep a cache of arms in your home just to last a week. Also, if people don't lose guns, shootouts that don't go their way will be less demotivating so people would be more willing to lose/do attacks that aren't about just blasting the shit out of as many people as you can (RP drivebys for example).

If you got killed, whatever you had ON you (Guns, drugs) should dissappear automatically as well as with 1.000$ reduction (Funeral bills, etc..). Why is that? Because your stuff are obviously taken away.

If you got wounded and rescued by medical, your stuff should, again, dissapear (Guns and drugs) because the hospital staff would obviously call the police and put you under arrest at hospital as well as money reduction because of hospital bills.

Either scenario, your stuff should disappear.

Good luck taking my gun when I'm in a hole in the desert. In that case, is it okay to keep it? Anyway, our reasoning for keeping guns on death is more practical and has benefits while your reasoning is, "eh well it makes sense."

I think weapons/drugs should drop to the floor so that it allows others to role play with them. Imagine watching someone get in a shootout, they die/brutally wounded and the police are coming. You'd be able to run over and grab their weapon and scramble away before they showed up. However I think there should be a time limit (5 minutes?) before it's deleted off the server to prevent you from just running back to your body and getting your stuff again.

This will also give incentive for police to be thorough after shootouts and not just to drive away after them. They will be forced to secure the scene for a bit in order to get all evidence from bodies.

I have no idea what desert you talking about, I assume you are mistaking me with someone else.

Keep guns on death? Sounds more like to deathmatch more people, make economy uneven and make it unrealistic. Death = Lose everything, period.

Errr what I meant is that police don't always find bodies and recover weapons (i.e. getting murdered and buried in the desert).

You're just ignoring the people explaining the benefits and posting unfair generalizations that seem to be coming from contempt. If anything makes the economy uneven, it's the overproduction of guns because you go through a couple every week. I'd rather focus on my character rather than worrying about if my supplier is going to have enough guns left after he sells to the other 5 factions he supplies. It's not fair to suppliers that they have to produce an unrealistic amount of guns, and as a result, some on LS-RP have underproduced and caused bad shortages. Finally, nothing is final as of yet. The discussion is still open and nobody has decided anything. So keep ya damn periods to yourself.

Ohhh, that's different matter yeah.

But either way, if you got killed there, the weapon should be left there and you should not go there as you got no memory going there. Buried? The gun is buried and never retrieved. The scenario still applies.

I see no benefits.

I mean, this is 2017 (2018) and I havent seen clones yet so they can "respawn" with the guns they got killed with. If you as person got killed, you lose what you had on you upon respawn (Namely Character-Kill if you truly want realism). The only benefit is, less DM, less guns on streets.

I am not sure why we talk about LS-RP though. But as I said, what you had on you is confiscated, period. Unless of course, someone took it and left with it, that's a different matter. But if you did die and respawn, you should have what you had on you earlier. They should be confiscated automatically if someone didnt take it away from you.

I think that the weapons should disappear once you die, otherwise it would just help people to shoot people for fun. For example, you provoke the police or a gang and you get in a shootout with them. When outnumbered, you get shot and killed. Then you'd just respawn and still have that gun and the ability to do the same thing all over again. Having guns not disappear when dead is silly.

They should Stay on the floor, you do /pickup weapon     and also you should be able to drop weapons so you can hide them and rules would be like you cant pick up PD/SD weapons???? or sum idk BC you dont want every one killing cops for M4s

Dopey (Member) ·

Yeah i like this idea because lets be honest  on lsrp if someone randomly pulls up and rdm you and u lost your gun and you dont have proof your screwed  and this will cause rk because of the rdm... but im saying if they dont rp taking it you should keep it and also lets say someone pulls up shooting at you and you shoot back you should be able to take there gun if you wounded or killed them. its unrealisitic that it disappears when you die.... In real life if u die with a gun it will be next to your body.

kane (Member) ·

I don't see why weapons wouldn't drop or stay on your person when you're brutally wounded.

It sounds like a good idea and I don't really see any flaws too it. The only thing I see arguable is that it'll incite deathmatch but it's just as easy as reporting players as it is killing them in game.
