Bans for hacking.

OK, I've never been banned for hacking on any server but have seen people banned for it. I feel as if banning players permanently or banning them for a very large amount of time is just unnecessary as I'm quite sure you all know SA:MP isn't honestly going up in players, at least in the English communities. So, what will the punishments be? Permanent, 12-months, or 6-months? What are your thoughts?

They need to be long so people get the memo but not perm. I feel as if if u hack right after getting unbanned from it, then u deserve it

I agree on that. If you get banned twice for hacking, you need to be gone for good. Of course, people fuck up and make mistakes in life but you shouldn't be removed permanently from it, unless you show utter disregard by doing it again. A man learns from his own mistakes, the wise man learns from others mistakes.

Cheating is a rare offense compared to the amount of honest players, so I don't see any benefits for this when it comes to the SA-MP player base. Cheating should be a permanent ban and it should be up to the admin to decide of the fate of the player (chance of re-appealing etc). Making it any less than that would result in more cheaters because the consequences would be less harsh, and it would send a message that they could come back eventually. Don't cheat and you're fine.

I've seen bans where people come from other servers and they're admins on that server and they forget to turn off whatever CLEO modification that they have for that server and accidentally turn it on while playing with or without noticing. What about them?

I believe that it should be 12 months. Maybe 9 months if it's a respected player.

Same with ban evaders. (Persistent ban evaders and/or hackers should be blacklisted)

What about DOX'ers and DDOS'ers?

This is obviously a different issue as this is not intentional. This is why ban appeals exist so people can prove it was an accident. Those who use this as an excuse should be monitored closely if unbanned, I can see how it could be exploited, and I think it should be the sole responsibility of the player making sure not to have cheats installed, with different installations and so on. I'm sure the staff will handle this appropriately.

Depends on the circumstances to be fair. I wouldn't take it lightly though. It's honestly at the end of the day, down to the admin's discretion.

I think a tiered system would work. Six months at first, if there's a second time, twelve month. Third time? Admin discretion.

Keep your cute discussion going everybody, I'm both supporting and against in the same time. Guess I had to mix the players' opinion and the staff team's. As soon as you get caught hacking and you are banned, to the admins, the current players' comfort and enjoyment is more important than the hacker's - there ain't no way that they'll risk one hacker, for the rest of the players. That's why they give long and severe punishments to the hackers - because they want players to learn from their mistakes and not do the same thing again.

Good idea.

Yeah using hacks isn’t a “mistake in life” A hacker knows what he/she is doing. Using them in another server and forgetting to turn Them off isn’t a excuse either.

Hacking bans should be a year min.

I disagree with this. If we be selective with our ban times then it's just plain favoritism and bias administration. Everyone should get the same time (depending on the severity of the ban)

Ban hackers permanently and tell them to re-appeal in one year where they have to serve a probation scheme (Maybe?). This should also applies to trolls, constant rule breakers.

Banned for a year and if they'd like to be unbanned, they have to send me a Domino's pizza of my choice.

Cheaters always know what they're doing. Even in my noob times when I was cheating on cs 1.6, I still knew what I'm doing. So it's best their ban to be longer because no one wants their game to be destroyed by cheaters. Althought everyone can make a mistake or two, so maybe it should be up to admin discretion and vary from situation to situation.

I don't see a compelling reason to exercise leniency on cheaters/hackers. This isn't the sort of thing you plead ignorance to. They should be banned permanently and an appeal should be mandatory if the player wants to apply to be unbanned. After that, administrator discretion depending on the offence.
