Because everyone has done a mistake on samp including me, you.. everyone.
Absolutely, everyone makes mistakes. That being said, cheating/hacking is one of the worst offences you can commit in any online game and the punishment should represent that.
First of all, we should have different punishments for every cheat. Because this is RP server, not DM server where you get banned for aimbot. But, still. Such cheats as vehicle repair, money hacks etc should be +6 months.
If special exception like "My brother did that!" Or "I was drunk.." , they can appeal and we will see.
Bug-abuse, Cleo modifications, breaking rules, trolling and such things, they can make ban appeal for that and explain in their ban appeals.
The fact you guys would even consider giving them a third chance is... odd. Personally I'm zero tolerance when it comes to hacks. Everyone knows it's not allowed. However if for whatever reason people get a second chance and cheat again, it shows that they only came for that.
Getting banned for hacking can be a bad decision someone should be able to come back from and play again. If you get banned a second time for hacking it just means your last ban appeal was garbage and you won't learn anything. Second time should be a permanent ban.
In my opinion, it honestly depends on what you've done on the server and whether or not you've been a positive influence. One fuck up shouldn't ruin everything for you.
Like, if you were a past faction leader of one of the best factions on BA-RP (obviously can't name any rn), you provided roleplay for everyone and was a helper/admin at some point I don't think you would deserve the same amount of ban time as say, a random newfag who just joined the server to hack or someone with a bad admin record.
However, it should also depend on what kind of hack you used. Weapon Hackers should have more leniency as anti-cheat will just ban him straight away. Same for airbreak or teleport hacks. However, ammo hackers, aimbotters and health/armour hackers should have more severity as you don't know how long theyve been using the hacks for which could've effected a numerous amount of roleplay scenarios.
tldr;
should depend on what you've done on the server and the type of hack you used. It should be dealt with on a case by case system.
It's a very hard decision whether to give people second chances for cheating. If people are given a second chance, they can easily just hack and know that they won't do it again afterwards because they will get unbanned. But given the fact that SAMP isn't exactly growing that much anymore as OP said, I say people should be given a second chance in this circumstance. Maybe a 2 week ban or 1-2 month(s) longer depending on the severity? (OP, add a poll)
i agree, depends on what hacks are used imo. let's say someone is using a health hack, sobeit, flying etc just trying to be toxic, should be indefinite or a year. but if its something that doesn't hurt the community such as stupidly fixing ur car, whatever it may be that doesn't give a toxic advantage, maybe that should be where you draw the line and can get unbanned
Punishments & rules are still in the process of been written up, and in many of the cases and I'm confident that each ban appeal will be handled on a case by case basics.
Hacking is an extremely serious offense and there is literally zero excuse behind hacking on a roleplay server.
However, the feedback on this thread will be discussed by the staff team.
