I don't mind giving it a chance.  I don't mind the drug names being different than they are in real life.  What I am worried about is that the names might be bad and ruin my immersion.

The post that @DamianC made, made it seem like the fact that I want to be immersed in this game is a bad thing.  It also lumped me in with a group of players and generalized everyone who wants real names (or real sounding names) as people who are running away from LSRP because we think that we're better than that server and every other roleplay server out there, and made it sound like every single one of us is strangely obsessed with him for some reason and think that he's going to save us from these horrible servers.  I don't know if that's what he was intending, but that's the way it came off.  And it bothers me.

I was, and still am, very hopeful for this server.  I want it to be good.  That's why I'm somewhat contrary and come off as critical.  I feel like opinions should be listened to, whether you agree with them or not.  I also think that criticism can be immeasurably helpful when it's constructive, and I don't feel like I was being anything but constructive. Everyone can have valuable input on stuff like this and I think it's a bad idea to completely alienate a portion of your player base.  I don't know if anyone else feels alienated now, but I sure do.  And I didn't before.

My thoughts and reaction summed up exactly

Im willing to try this but i was a bit comfused at first to get new drugs, because we're on a roleplay server on a game named after a felony charge lol..

Looking forward to this, I remember those leaders of that crimson gang said (quite ironic, crimson being red-ish kind of a color, and their color was blue, lol only on that server) on that server you were part of before that that server was going to die in 2 years. With this in the making, it will do the job and the other county server will recieve it's final blow.

Do you have anything logical to contribute? This is a GAME.

If you're so passionate about realism, go and play in-real life, it's pretty realistic out there sometimes.

Go play LoL or something if you just want to play a casual game and have a good time. There and a million and one games that pander to that kind of mindset. SAMP RP is one of the few places where people can gather to roleplay that has serious standards. That's why servers like LSRP have held players for 5+ years. It's how the game's marketed towards serious roleplayers that made it so enduring. That seriously dedicated playerbase made LSRP, not anybody's script, management skills, business sense, etc. So yeah, don't give people crap for wanting a realistic game.

I think that we should draw a stark contrast between realism and simulation. People advocating for realism do not want a simulation like many people got turned away from LSRP for. I'm perfectly satisfied with the drug changes even as someone who advocates realism. I also want to have fun. Realism doesn't always equate to fun, as too much of it can become a simulation. I think people just want a balance, and having people make jokes at our expense is a big demotivation. You can have realism and still have players like from the mall or Pizzastacks.

Not everyone thinks like you, really. When LSRP had 600 players, the majority were the ones that wanted to have fun, elitists have always been a minority. Honestly you gotta stop that aggressiveness, we play the game as we wish pal, you really shouldn't have a say in that.

Inclined to agree with you. In its better days with DamianC at the head, LS:RP sought out all type of role players. After his leave and when the playerbase declined, this whole immersion and realism bandwagon started because everyone thought and put the idea that the quality of the roleplay was the reason for the decline in the player base but it was always the same.

In servers that use real names of the drugs (heroin, cocaine, cannabis, meth and so on) I have seen street dealers making up abstract names for the product they're selling, so I think that the drugs themselves should be named after the real thing script-wise but players are free to call the drug whatever they want ICly. Having the drug name made off R*'s GTA universe written into the script as a factual name of the drug is kind of kicking a somewhat disbalance. Those who want to call drugs by their real name really can't due to there being no such drug in the in-game world. What I am saying, basically, is that if you keep the names to  real ones, players will be able to pick ICly if they want to call the drug by an abstract name or the real one and if you put made-up names for the said drugs, the realists won't enjoy it.

Keeping it back at realistic names could be OK for both realists and those who say it's just a game. In the end for me though? I don't care which one happens, just inserting my opinion here.

just give players the ability to title their own drug packages

Solid idea. Tell an unsuspecting customer that it's something else and give a description of what the drug looks like/does with /drugattr(ibute). Someone could sell you a white powdered substance and tell you it's blow, when really it's some cheap crushed up pills. Helps eliminate metagaming for those who wish to roleplay a less reputable dealer, and solves the headache from those complaining about the drug names.

In that case, I would very like a purity system. You would be able to make more drugs off your current ones but they will all become weaker and cheaper.

I fully agree on this, I don't see an issue with just naming drugs what they're known as ─ maybe try to make it known IC the goofy nick names you want. If I was in the posistion to be unique and do something new, refreshing ─ add obscure drugs. Obscure drugs that aren't commonly seen on samp such as various prescription pills, different branches of drugs instead of strengths, etc.  You could even throw in crazy stuff that's blowing through the news nowadays such as fentanyl.

Either way I feel like no matter what you name them on the script, people will call them by their actual name regardless. But, TLDR:

Make drugs on the script named normally (cocaine, marijuana etc), to be unique/different add obscure drugs such as fentanyl, a wide variety of prescription pills, etc.

keep the names approximate or vague please it'd be stupid in my own opinion, to rename the WHOLE drug as a large portion of sa-mp roleplayers go around crime lol.
