Well, as we all know, every loud sound makes an echo for some range depends on how loud it is.
I've seen in many communities that players take the advantage that shooting inside a property will make it easier and safer for them as people outside won't hear the shots.
So I thought if you could add something like *Gunshots would be heard in the district*
or *Gunshot echoes around* it's gonna bring more roleplay opportunities as people might call 911 or a passing by cruiser hears that.
Even if the shooter is inside a property, shots would be heard outside.
Surely every type of gun got his own echo range depends on how loud the bang is.
Yeah, saw this on many servers. But a lot of people roleplay how they make their basements sound insulated. I don't know if different rooms can be defined as sound insulated in houses.
I support, there's times where someone nearby fires a gun but my game for some reason doesn't picks it up but everyone else does and I'm left confused.
I mean, the majority of people would choose to RP soundproof homes, as it saves them the trouble. Then again, shots fired inside of a property really depend on the type of property, you won't hear shots that go on in a skyscraper for example. So I think it would be easier if we rule that out or make the radius really small - if shots are fired inside of a property, then the text saying shots would be heard coming from the inside should only be shown in a radius of maximum 1 block.
As for the outdoors shootings, the radius in which the text is shown should be as large as a district. The only thing is that if a shooting happens then it stops, begins again, and so on, it will spam the text. I think there is a possibility to make it an actual sound but I am not sure. If a text notification is added, it'd be better if it would get updated a minimum of every 5 minutes or so, or other ways the developers can think of in order to avoid having it spammed.
I guess this would be kinda cool, but I still don't see how this could be implemented, other then a spam of /do's rushing from a certain house. I dunno.
Great idea. Maybe if you paid for soundproofing script wise in game, that could be a way of stopping /dos' appear above your home/building.
In which case a construction-type faction with a proper managment can be implemented, together with few more construction type things players can buy for their properties.
If done correctly can add a lot of good RP, but it can also become incredibly spammy. Seen this on another server where every single shot triggered a /do for everyone in the area saying "A loud shot is heard eachoing through the vicinity" or something like that. So everytime they shot that happened. Was super annoying.
Instead of an automatic "A loud gunshot would be heard [...]" that could spam the chat if multiple shots are fired, couldn't it be a gunshot sound that is played where the entrance to the property is? A script that would play the in-game sound file associated to the gun being used (with maybe an isolated/echoed effect so people can tell it's coming from inside a property).
I think it's only fair to do this since shooting outdoors doesn't trigger an automatic /do, it should be the same when firing inside a house, people close to it would be able to hear what's happening inside.
On another note, I think it would be interesting to (1) be able to hear whatever music is being played inside a property when standing right outside the door of a house and (2) being able to hear people /s(houting) from inside and outside if they're close to the door, so that /d(oor)s(houting) isn't even needed.
Perfect. As long as the radius of sound is realistic.

Maybe this can become a house upgrade for homeowners or whoever owns a flat. Or just make the radius very small from outside the house where you can hear it. Plus make the sound muffled or something. Different weapons can have different sound levels that travel farther distances?
Lots of variables involved with shots inside properties, but I agree with the district warning when shots are fired. I’ve seen it used on MTA servers and it served a decent purpose.

district warning? hm.. it should be delayed though because nobody is gonna call 911 right when a gunshot goes off. it should take like 2-3 minutes, its not that common for a cop to get in a full fledged shootout its just mostly crime scenes

When I say district warning I don’t mean to cops, I mean like “A gunshot is heard ringing through Idlewood” to the people in that particular district.
