No. Think of it this way: RC4 is equivalent to 0.3.7-DL. It's literally just a namechange, all the features are still there.

What I don't understand is, for the people who have a problem with it, why is it such a big deal? In my opinion if you as the server administration or your player base don't want to use the downloading feature then simply don't implement it on your server. Or am I thinking of this too simplistically? Genuine question.

In any case, considering the development wasn't outright cancelled and is being released as an optional download; I'm cool with that.

I totally agree with you, if you don't want to use the download feature, dont use it..

The only disadvantage with the seperate 0.3.7-DL version is that it splits the community, some servers will run on 0.3.7 others on 0.3.7-DL, and people dislike switching versions for different servers.. But we'll have to see how that plays out

Yes, there was a way to disable it on your server if you don't want to use it. But regardless, he made this choice and we should respect it.

Yes, we'll be using the 0.3.7DL version which allow for custom skins.

DL stands for download - meaning that whoever has this client will be able to download content from the server to the client itself.

Don't take what I'm about to say as fact but here's what I've gathered from this.

Bay Area Roleplay will still have all of the innovative features that the development team and staff team have planned for. It's just that instead of being on 0.3.8, we'll be using an add-on to 0.3.7 called 0.3.7-DL. I am pretty sure the DL stands for download but I can be wrong. 0.3.7-DL is basically going to be 0.3.8 as we know it currently but just with a different name. It also will probably not be updated as often or at all as we expected it to be. It's okay though, the developers here at Bay Area have done very innovative things with the ordinary 0.3.7, none of us should worry because 0.3.7-DL is just going to give the developers here even more possibilities and leniency is making innovative developments.

tl-dr; 0.3.7-DL is basically going to be what we currently know of 0.3.8 just with a different name. The developers here at Bay Area have made some extremely innovative developments for other communities on the normal version of 0.3.7 and you should have no worries with them making even more innovations with 0.3.7-DL while they are here at Bay Area.

Read again, long awaited and community requested. However I'm in no position to judge, I trust the server developers will still deliver wonderful content.

We have no idea either, but luckily except for the name of the version, nothing will change. We'll still have custom skins and such.
