Take this to the bin, no point for a discussion even.

There is no rule or cultural restriction that can stop players from having Firstname_De_la_Cruz except the inability of conservative players to adapt to change like some of the users in this thread.

Each to their own but people post here because it's a personal opinion, not for you to call them conservative and say people are unable to adapt to change if they don't follow your exact judgement. My opinion is that names should be kept simple and no more than one underscore should be used in a character to keep everything on one playing field. I'll be the first to say it'll look ridiculous and potentially tiresome for staff when members are running around with De_La_Cruz or A_B_C_D. But as said, just my opinion!

Fair enough, my emotions got the best of me. Apologies!

They look tacky imo

Personally I feel First_Last is a much neater format, maybe if we had longer names show up on things such as /showlicenses and official documents etc.

Dunno, just my opinion

Are you ignorant or you just don't want to read? I said, by allowing three names it would look like something that a RPG server has. My sentence about not having nametags above people heads in real life, was to debunk your sentence stating that "People in real life have 3 names".

My point is whether they they allow "three names" or not nametags are still something RPG servers have. The nametags over players heads on BA-RP are not the default SA-MP nametag, they are a custom 3D text without the underscore. For that reason I think they also should show double-barreled names. On the TAB list, sure, show "Le Roy" as _LeRoy or whatever, but on their licenses it should be their full legal name (which can already be roleplayed). Seeing people having to be named Jeanjacques or Leeann (when it's Jean-Jacques or Lee Ann) is goofy, it should be shown correctly.

This is pointless you can just tell people IC to call you by John_Jr_Doe it isnt really needed in your character name which is OOC.

You don't make sense. If you are calling double-barrelled names/general designated surnames a cosmetic feature, then you might as well call the traditional Firstname_Lastname rule a cosmetic feature too. There are a plethora of other terms that can be used to call or define a person with, why stick with something as mundane as Firstname_Lastname? This format was standardized among most role play servers because of the influence initial/large RP servers had on small RP servers, and how owners/developers wanted to mimic or "borrow" certain ideas from these large servers because it was unique/logical to the theme that said servers were following. If we are going to replicate the standard real life name format in this server, then we should also take another step and allow name formats of different culture and region to be used as a player's character name in this server.

Ph.D/KBE/OBE/etc. are all post-nominal letters, and are not added into a player's surname because they weren't born with the titles that they would have received later on in their academic life. No one adds that into their surname. If players do something as stupid as this, they should take a few steps back and start getting involved with a different server.

I fully support this suggestion. There is no rule or cultural restriction that can stop players from having Firstname_De_la_Cruz except the inability of conservative players to adapt to change like some of the users in this thread. Apologies if this comment came of as offensive, but I am quite disappointed at some of the replies in this thread that are against this suggestion. If the community thinks that this feature can be abused, all character names can be checked along with the UCP character application, just like how LS:RP does it with their user applications.

For it.

I can see where you're coming from, however, I don't like the idea. West made my point.

I think it’d look really odd. You can decide to roleplay your name as anything you wish it to be, including official documents (driving licenses, etc) but we don’t need to see it above players heads.
