Server in real time or a custom time speed?

Neaksy nailed it. Although, the only thing I disagree with is the last part

I used to support this idea, but rethinking it made me realize that night time RP wouldn't really exist either at peak times. The best idea I see is making the timezone GMT-2 or GMT-3, so there's a balance between day and nighttime roleplay.

I think syncing it to San Francisco time would be fine. At the very least I'd like to see it experimented. It's unrealistic to have legal faction academies take place at 7PM, graduation in the evening and so on. If it was synced to SF time, the peak of players would be in the afternoon, which is fine because that's when people are out in town, working etc, not in the evening. The only thing would be that nightclubs would be open late at night for Europeans, or early in the morning, but I think that's a small issue. Restaurants would open at noon in-game. A more trivial benefit of syncing it to Californian time is that the server would take place exactly in our same timeline, on servers like LS-RP on CET, the server takes place 8 hours into the future, which means oftentimes current events that just happened IRL would have happened 8 hours later IG. That's a small thing, but synced to SF, we could be able to sync the weather exactly like current real-life Bay Area, which would allow weather predictions from in-game news outlets etc.

Custom, I don't know, I'd have to try real IG for a bit.

Real time or w/e is closest to the time in the actual Bay Area (San Francisco).

Hopefully there will be weather changes here and there like fog, rain, rainstorm, cloudy, and etc. Better than it.being sunny all year

I support REAL TIME. Custom time would be simply akward and bring many issues. Let's say the grand opening of a shop is 14:40 which would be easy to attend in real time but custom time it would be difficult.

What I want is, weather to be changed each 2-3 hours pass by.

The real time setting offers more co-ordination in my opinion. Makes it easier to plan things out, whereas players can keep track of events. A good mixture of weather changes would be a good addition as well.

Real time.

Having it real time (PST?) would probably make it horrible for the players on other parts of the globe, i.e people in Australia would literally only experience night. I feel there should only be 12 hours in a day as then everybody can experience daytime and nighttime roleplay.

It seems a bit restrictive on rp, as say if somebody from the UK wanted to create a night-club, yet was only able to play during the day hours - they'd have to open their club during the daytime which just seems a bit absurd for a night-club.

I stand strongly on a custom, 12 hour time. Purely for the fact it would provide more roleplay for the majority of the players, hopefully. To compensate you could just do a /time command and it would show the OOC date and OOC time which could be used for documents on the forums or otherwise which require the date and time.

GMT +0 would be ideal for conversions.

In agreement here, some arbitrary other timezone (aside from the actual one) would be tough to deal with.

I say 12 hour days so everyone can experience day and night

I do love the idea of the weather predictions, I have tried personally to make a news faction on other servers which had a news sector and it constantly would fail for that reason.

I've created a topic which should help to resolve this debate:

If you're gonna do it real time base it off of San Francisco.
