After nearly 10 years, with people still messaging me about Bay Area, I've come to one conclusion. Bay Area Roleplay will open one more time, and this time it will remain open.

People will have their opinions on this, but I'm going to give you mine.

SA-MP holds a place in a lot of people's lives, and over the years we've watched servers we grew up on disappear one by one. I believe the end of San Andreas multiplayer is far from over. There are still people playing SA-MP for the first time in 2026, and despite BA-RP's history, I believe there's still a chance to make something of it, regardless of player numbers.

Hours upon hours of work have gone into this server, from planning, modelling and texturing to scripting and brainstorming. It would be a shame to let that work go to waste, which, for a long time, is exactly what happened.

Over the past 10 years, I've occasionally come back to Bay Area, fixing things, adding features, and then putting it aside as life carried on. Bay Area Roleplay once smashed the competition, only to be brought down by complications and blame games, but we won't get into that again. Almost all major bugs are now gone, and so much more has been added since.

Now, I know a lot of you will be thinking, what's the point? How will it work? Won't it just be dead?

My plan is to reopen Bay Area as a lighter roleplay server that's enjoyable even with minimal players online. I'm not expecting the player numbers we once had, and that's not what this is about.

Open.mp is still actively being developed, bringing more opportunities for server owners to improve and expand what SA-MP has to offer. I'm not going into detail yet about what's to come, but plenty has changed.

Lastly, there will be permanent in-game memorials dedicated to two former staff members who we sadly lost to suicide.

RIP LTF & Pitch. ❤️

Stay tuned for more.
