Some (Probably thought of) Suggestions

As a new server with a new script, people can often leave out the most oblivious but important scripts to keep the health of a server ticking over. I've been an IG Lead Admin on LSRP so as a source you can trust me!

As said, most of these are probably in the work - just chipping in my two cents!

Particularly well-built Anticheat

Anti-cheats is a hell of a lot of work when it comes down to new scripts and especially if you're making the AC from scratch. Aside from the very obvious client to serverside and back again anti-cheats such as money and weapon spawns, I think a particular effort should be aimed at the use of CLEO's and AHK abuse. Such as the following;

  1. Having a check to see how many times a player enters a specific car seat number within a second. If this number even exceeds the minimum animation time to enter and exit a car seat then you know someone is either teleporting into a vehicle or using the "Trolling" cleo which makes cars fly all over the place. Useful to grab the playerID and print to admins.
  2. Storing and matching player configurations within the UCP. Server and UCP communication is crucial for Anti-cheat, especially when looking into potential money duplication glitches and other sneaky scripts. Set some sort of automated comparison checker and mark up any potential large changes.
  3. I have lots more in regards to detailed anti-cheat information which has kept the brunt of modern day (2016-17) cheaters at bay(hah). For general security, I won't list them here but feel free to PM me for more info on it. Yet again I'm an ex-recent IG Lead Admin from LS:RP so my knowledge is vast.

Stable Financial System

One of the crashing issues with LS:RP was the economy. It didn't help that when the server was in its early days, a particular savings system helped boost the wealth of players to the billions of dollars of assets. I'm no financial expert nor do I know how to run a good economy aside from moderated prices, fluctuation in relation with stocks, a well-built banking system and more. But effort should be focused on this area! Yet again, probably already is!

Custom Damage System

Default SAMP Damage? No thanks. A system that incorporates every major body part and alters the damage based on body hit position, the calibre of weaponry, distance, IfPlayerHasArmour, IfPlayerHasSWATArmour and much more would be fabulous. The more customisation the better and any form of configuration and tweaking afterwards can easily be achieved. There is so much more IF's you can add to a damage system, keep it dynamic so you can easily make additions as new scripts get implemented. A good damage system is always a very attracting feature to any form of roleplay, light or heavy.

Prisons / Judicial / Electoral / Governmental

A lot of roleplay servers simply introduce their custodial and governmental processes into the factions themselves. The administrative side is completely understandable but having a fully flexible system for jails, prisons, elections and any additional governmental aid is a huge promoting factor and motivating factor for those wanting to go into those grey areas of roleplay. You need to incite people to roleplay in these areas!

I'll add more when it's not 5am in the morning :)

The custom damage system is plain bad, it limits good deathmatchers to have to use cover 24/7 and lets stupid cheap shots and tricks dominate the gameplay, if the custom damage system is implemented shootouts are much more likely to happen after around a week when people get used to the server's damage system, a lot of shootouts will take place, trust me.

If you want something like that just add the realistic counterparts like headshots versus legshots where headshots are almost a certain kill with 2 shots for most weapons except for rifle and sniper and maybe shotgun, while legshots cripple enemies and prevent them from running or something idk
Custom damage allows guns like colt45 to actually dominate, also MP5 will be extreamily cancerous, custom damage is the reason I left 4 RP servers just because when I try to actually get some good RP going people start to lose their minds when they lose it and just unload a hail of bullets on me, yeah that'd happen a lot everywhere but with a custom damage system either I'd die so fast to be able to respond or I won't die at all

This was part of the suggestion!

I think you're misunderstanding slightly. A custom damage system alters and allows variables to be changed in relation to weapons. Custom damages do not mean damages are twice as lethal or weapons can fire twice as fast - in fact, it's quite the opposite. In SAMP the default damage is very vague and considered pretty weird in the realm of roleplay, custom scripting will allow individual values to be assigned to literally an individual bullet fired from a specific weapon. Just look at the general success of complex damage systems in other RP servers - it brings a form of controlled realism, but each to their own opinion!

I know how it works mate, if the weapons do more/less damage, the entire DM system is changed which by the way is a bad thing, people who are comfortable with the system will go for shootouts to win RP more often, that's the point am trying to raise here

People will go for shootouts in any system - default damages or scripted damages, and I'm not entirely sure why a change in damage/realism is a bad thing. The suggestion is just so a form of realism can be applied to a shootout situation. But your opinion is valued!

In addition to these suggestions I'm going to add a few more;

Radio Streaming

Boomboxes, Radios, Car Stereos - all sourced from streams on the web. You could make this system dynamic in-game so admins can easily add or remove tracks because links die all of the time. Just don't allow players to enter their own url! These boomboxes could be moved?

Human Health-Esque

We all tend to look after ourselves in real life and the current features of SAMP don't really have a sustainability system in place. I'm suggesting something a little bit more complex than a hunger/thirst system that might already be in place. Not to make it too RPG'ish, but smart ways of filling human needs can be a good incentive for roleplay.

Account Security

One of the biggies that I hope is being built into both the gameserver and the UCP. Far too many times are people hit with account breaches and information theft, so having a solid solution in place would be a fantastic mind ease for many players before even thinking about registering. I'm very sure passwords are securely hashed

  • Two-factor Authentication for forums and UCP
  • Memorable Words / Secret Words for IG Accounts that apply only to a single IP
    • (Logging in on a different IP will trigger a secret word check so hackers cannot (hopefully) access the account without it)
  • Inactivity checks with triggers. Not played in a month? Then some formalities should be checked.

These are just some of the very basics of account security that would be a godsend to anyone who has things accidentally leaked / stolen.

More to come soon

It would be cool to be able to listen to music via your phone in-game. If you have a smartphone and headphones in your inventory, you should be able to tune in.

I encourage anyone with input to read through this specific post and reply or even go further to read every post. The most effective suggestions are ones where every side has an input to mold a system of compromises that benefits everyone.

You can die from one pistol bullet irl easily. With this damage system weapons have reasonable capabilities when put up against others. Most people RP the Desert Eagle as a 9mm or .45 firearm, not a .50AE. At close range a Desert Eagle can do 92 damage to your toe in the time it takes for a M4 to deal 54 damage to your head. Custom Damage systems promote thought to how you engage a target. A few examples:

1) Ambush a target to ensure you can kill them

2) Use long range weaponry to avoid detection

3) Use cover to avoid being hit and have smart positioning of allies to ensure a takedown of your target

Tricks are how real life combat is won. Nobody sits in the open and takes steps to the left and right to throw off someone's aim.

Most people are comfortable with the default damage system when leaving DM servers and know that they can rush an assault rifle and come off winning when they use a Desert Eagle.

A properly built damage system will encourage people to talk to resolve conflicts if possible. If they cannot talk it out they will shoot it out. With that, they will also want a damage system that promotes realistic attitudes and mindsets while in the middle of a gun fight. This is a very difficult task to accomplish but I trust our scripters will be able accomplish this.

The thing about the custom damage system is only about headshots. I believe that the damage should be realistic, but headshots shouldn't instantly kill you. I say this because, let's be honest, not everybody would have the guts to shoot someone in the face. But here, most of the players most likely tried out CS:GO or R6Siege, so they go directly for headshots. No thanks heh.

Rest's fine and I agree with.
