Death / Injury System

I think a corpse system where the bodies remain for  a day would be good, could give detectives jobs to figure out who murdered people! :O But I agree with @Buck, we don't want people to MG a dead body, more so to wonder if it's dead or just injured.

Possibly if you get shot so many times you go into an injured animation where the other play can choose what to do with them.

That suggestion about the shots fired alert sent to cops is bullshit and should never be implemented esp on a server where the cop to civilian ratio is probably going to be more than 1 cop per every 10 civilians. If we look at LS-RP, it's damn near impossible to shoot at anything in East Los Santos (in general, including idlewood etc) because there's atleast one cruiser within a street or two away from you driving around.

I support the dead body suggestion, but the problem is that those corpses should only be displayed for a set period of time (15-30mins etc) otherwise if it's set to 1 day then that street is gonna be filled with them. There must also be a command thats available to EVERYONE in moving that corpse. I would suggest a default skin laying should appear along with text over it with either Corpse of Firstname_Lastname, 9mm bullet wounds to X body parts OR Corpse - (dead players /examine information) and the bullet wounds.

All players should be able to drag corpses which then display a text over the players head such as "dragging corpse" from a short render distance and be able to be dropped at another posistion and stored inside vehicle trunks and taken away. (corpses shouldnt be displayed inside cars unless the car trunk is searched, so if it was LSRP you wouldn't know a corpse is inside a car unless you do /check and it displays an alert then.

I think that having ShotSpotter is not at all "bullshit" or unrealistic. Miami has a population of 441,003 during the year 2016 with a population density of 12,139.5 people per square mile. San Fierro has a population of 461,327 as of 2010 and a population density of 12,310 per square mile. This is taken from the 2010 San Fierro Census. If we end up with a higher crime rate than Miami does it is not unreasonable to implement such a system, especially if these crimes involve firearms. This is very likely due to the nature of SAMP players.

Congratulations for making the dumbest argument I've heard today.

First of all, where are you getting this San Fierro population numbers and what census? LOL

Do you mean San Francisco? Because I hope you realize that real life =/= in-game.

It's nothing to do with fucking population density. If Miami's population is 400,000 and they had 40,000 cops that would mean theres a fucking cop passing by every street every 5minutes or so (which is the case in SAMP servers such as LSRP which I'm guessing will have a similar civilian to cop ratio.) If Miami had a cop for every 10 civilians, they wouldn't need no fucking shotstopper bullshit because there would be a cop on every corner.

I'm well against a shotspotter script, it's just too metagamey to me.

Simeon (Member) ·

Played on a server that had a gunfire locator script. It was pretty cool, but that was a small server with a small law enforcement faction, so it made sense to have it on there. This server will most likely have a decent playerbase size and a big enough law enforcement faction. They'll most certainly drive through the areas where the "action happens", not in the dead parts. Players who role play as criminal street gang members usually prefer to have violence be an active element on the forefront of the gang life they portray, meaning that if you play SAMP it's obvious you'll see way more fights, shootings, and murders than you'd see in real life. If you look at bigger servers, there's a complaint about constant patrols through areas making gang role play more difficult. Not only are street gang members going to have a hard time doing illegal or violent role play in their neighborhoods, but things like the gun locator system would make it impossible. The shotspotter thing just won't mesh well with SAMP's philosophy of role play, even if it exists in real life. It's one of those things that is meant to combat, prevent, and stop crime from happening. But you can't do that on SAMP, because people create their characters for the sole purpose of being a criminal. With game changing ideas like these, I believe it's important to find a way to keep both sides happy. Even if I'm not big on the shootout and gang beef role play, I think the people who do that thing, would have a problem down the line with systems like these (even if they don't realize it yet).

Being only beat up (not dead) when you're beat up would be awesome. It would stop people from accidentally "killing" others in brawls and it would stop people from getting ridiculous charges when arrested after a fist fight, because the victim was hit until zero health and decided to role play dying.

The bodies/corpses suggestion sounds real good too. Them being present would help in role play like body disposal, crime investigations, shootout aftermath.

San fierro population was taken from an IC source on this forum. I included the link in the post. What's up with the hostility? Miami has 1,259 officers as of 2014. We have 26 here. People believe we will have a player base of that will max out our cap. With that in mind..:

1259:441003 --> 1259:439744

1:349.280

~1:349

26:250 --> 26:224

~1:8.615

~1:9

However that's just the OOC players. Take the entire IC "population" into account and the ratio is terribly skewed. One must also take the budget of the department into account.

The increased population density will most likely yield higher crime rates, though marginal. Miami does not have 40,000 cops. Take a look at Google before spitting out "dumb" "facts". Of those 1,259 employees to Miami City not all of them work patrol. Some of those numbers are administrative and do focused community building projects. Of those employee's there are three shifts. 1259/3 = 419.667. One cannot have a partial person so we will round up.. 420 around at any given time. Now we'll assume that 10% of them work administrative/desk jobs or do some sort of community policing leaving 90% of that force on active patrol.. 90% of 420 = 378. Now with those 378, they work 3 main areas. 378 / 3  = 126. These areas are quite large. With 126 officers driving around, will I be seeing a squad car passing my street every second? Some of these 126 officers are working tactical detail, traffic, or doing other tasks such as investigations and are not available to patrol. Now we need some geographical information...

City of Miami:     55.27 square miles (143.1 km2)

San Fierro: 112,240 sq mi (of which water: 76,144 sq mi)

San Fierro (without water): 36,096 sq mi

With the above paragraph in mind, tell me how often I will see a squad car? Ah, wait.. My long paragraph is "dumb" and you will only read the first one and this paragraph. After reading that you will quote this and claim everything is bullshit without reading it.

Real life might not equal in game. However, on LSRP, the crime rate is so high that the US Government would send the National Guard to enforce martial law until the crime rate falls. Where are they at?

At least have the courtesy to spell it properly if you're going to talk about it.

I've experienced worse.

Fun Fact: NYPD has approximately 51,000 employees. More than the FBI does. LAPD has 12,000 employees. One for every 433 residents.

Thanks for writing all that out, and I enjoyed reading it but it seems you're confused.

1. The first paragraph has no meaning at all because it's taken from a fictional in-character census that has made up statistics for realism. When making a server suggestion you need to take into account actual real players, not made up census statistics. A random IC census has ZERO meaning considering the server isn't even open yet, so how could that even be done? (also that 28 cops on here number you mentioned is false too. the server is not even open yet and alot of people haven't bothered to apply considering there's no ETA for when the server will be open. That number will surely increase within the first month of the server opening.

2. "Miami does not have 40,000 cops. Take a look at Google before spitting out "dumb" "facts"

Never claimed it did, perhaps you should check your eyesight before spitting out 'dumb accusations'. I made the point that on LS-RP the ratio between civilians and cops is roughly 1 cop, per 10 civilians. You stated Miami's population was 400,000 and therefore if they had the same ratio of cops/civilians that would mean they had 40,000 cops and if that was the case there definately wouldn't be any need for a shotspotter system in Miami. We can expect a very similar ratio of cops/civilians on this server too when it launches, hence I'm against the idea of shotspotter.

3. "With the above paragraph in mind, tell me how often I will see a squad car? Ah, wait.. My long paragraph is "dumb" and you will only read the first one and this paragraph."

I read your entire post and the only thing I can tell you is that the random 'bullshit' statistics that you spat out have zero meaning. Firstly you used a made up number from a bullshit IC census that stated SF's population was 460K LMAO. Then you used random made up numbers for the size of San Fierro that again have no meaning.

How about instead of making your calculations based off fictional numbers, you use actual REAL player numbers.

Let's imagine that BA:RP has a very succesful launch and maanges to pull 300 players (just an example) and that results in there being about 30 cops online (based off 10:1 ratio). Now I'm not doing no extensive research like you for the sake of an argument but I'm guessing theres roughly 60-80 streets in the whole of San Fierro. Now even if you minus roughly 10 cops who will be doing other stuff like SWAT/Detectives whatever, that still leaves you with 20 cops patrolling the city where there's only roughly 60-80 streets in total, some of which are going to be abondoned and barely ever roleplayed in, so whatever the situation if theres a shootout you can expect a cop to respond to it within a minute if not less. Therefore making the shotspotter script absolutely useless.

Feel free to try and argue my own calculation, but please use actual real player expectations not some made up census and sq area numbers that have nothing to do with the server.

4. Real life might not equal in game. However, on LSRP, the crime rate is so high that the US Government would send the National Guard to enforce martial law until the crime rate falls. Where are they at?

This is a game, not real life. 90% of all players are involved in either LEA/illegal factions or generally roleplaying characters that are criminals because this is not real life and players want to do something they usually wouldn't do in real life due to real consequences (e.g. criminal activity).

5. Fun Fact: NYPD has approximately 51,000 employees. More than the FBI does. LAPD has 12,000 employees. One for every 433 residents.

Cool, now the multiple times I've held my own census of the cop to civilian ratio on LS-RP in 2016 and 2015 by checking the number of players online at the time and the number of cops /onduty in either PD or SD there was always roughly one cop for every 10 residents. So imagine if that same ratio applied to real life cities like New York or Miami. There would be enough cops to be able to have atleast one stationed on every street lol, that's why you can never compare real lif statistics to in-game statistics because this is a game.

I fail to see how castrating criminal roleplay by using some kind of shotspotter script would be beneficial. Many people wouldn't bother joining if any time they shot a gun some alarm rang. We must remember it's a game, not real life, we don't need to use community policing and broken-window laws.

You need to suspend your disbelief to a certain extent, otherwise you just won't have fun. I've been primarily a legal roleplayer for most of my time on RP servers and I'm fine with huge crime rates - it gives cops something to do. If any time someone shot a gun an alarm rang, cops would probably have a harder time because people would try to avoid using guns altogether.

Its a video game, not real life. Realism is very fun but too much, its boring as shit

The death system was recently done and covers just about everything mentioned in the suggestion.

Feel free to make a new suggestion once you see the system!
