I'm 16, 186cm and around 100kg, but the doctors say that I'm just a little bit overweight because my body is naturally strong and heavy (I'm sceptic about that, tbh), and that I'm pretty healthy (my heart works fine etc). I was always physically active throughout my childhood, like spending my day playing football, basketball, volleyball with friends, even working out at home, but I was always overweight. I'm eating healthy food, lots of fruits and vegetables, that's just how my mother feeds me lol, typical for a Serb family. It looks like I'm doing everything very well but I'm not losing any kilograms. I lost them only when I had surgery and didn't eat anything for 7 days. What's the issue, is my metabolism slow, or shall I just believe the doctors?

Any tips to burn fat other than walking and eating less?

I'll give you some tips and share my own experiences with you.

Resistance training with bodyweight exercises (push-ups, pull-ups/chin-ups, dips, crunches, sit ups and squats) will work wonders for fat loss. I personally do hundreds of push-ups and crunches on a somewhat daily basis, provided I'm not recovering from my last workout. Try some weight lifting, too. I bought myself a 25 pound cast-iron dumbbell for 32 dollars the other day and that's all I really need. I don't go to the gym anymore, as it's not needed at all.

Also, try jogging. Plan a route of somewhat modest distance (1 to 3km) and see how long it takes you to run that.

Initially, push yourself to the limit with these exercises. Do as many as you can within a day, but be very careful not to overtrain. Eat adequate amounts of calories, carbohydrates and protein to ensure that you maximize the gains to your strength and endurance.

Personally, though? I could only do around 50 pushups in a single day, and the same went for crunches and sit-ups. But now, I can do hundreds of them if I really push myself. I can actually do 100 pushups in around 16 - 17 minutes if I really try. I can do 100 crunches in 85 seconds. I can do 100 sit ups in around 3 minutes. I haven't tested myself for dips and squats, and I'm not quite strong enough to do pull-ups or chin ups. I can run 3 kilometers in around 20 minutes and I hope to increase my distance to 5km while maintaining the same time limit.

I don't know if you can take anything from this but I figured that I'd share anyway.

I've been thinking about starting to go to the gym but It'll probably be next year cus no there's no point of starting now with all these holidays coming.

This is the best time to start going to the gym, cold weather raises the testosterone level in your body which helps you to gain mass faster than in summer.

Believe the doctor and hit the gym.

You can gain weight if you hit the gym once a month and work your chest only, you need to go 4-5 days a week and work all your body muscles out, you'll get results.

Brand do you suggest calisthenics or weight lifting for building mass faster?

Do you know anything about building muscle mass on "skinny-fat" physiques?

I'm now up to, in any given day:

100 to 200 push-ups.
100 to 200 dips.
200 to 400 crunches.
100 sit ups.
100 squats.
200 "back crunches".

3 to 3.5 kilometer run in roughly 20 - 25 minutes.

Fuck off with that calistenics shit. Be a man and start lifting. You'll get in love with the gym and the gym's gonna be the only thing going through your head.

1) I'm about to join the military and all they do in basic training is calisthenics. That's why I'm preparing for it.
2) I already did go to the gym but I bought my own equipment for home. I currently mix lifting with calisthenics. It's far more cheaper and convenient.
3) I don't give a fuck about what you think. Give your unwarranted and insolent opinions to someone else.

Calisthenics are a great thing for a future soldier in my honest opinion. Calisthenics will be enough to keep yourself in a perfect physical condition, and improve your balance, coordination etc.

Lifting heavy weights is the fastest way to gain mass, you're in a good season for it tho, winter raises the testosterone percentage in our body due to the coldness, that will help you to gain mass. I'd suggest to get any mass gainer, will help you a lot.

I don't agree with you Ricken, pull ups are always the best solution to get a wider back, doing both at the same time is too great.

WARM UP!!!

  • 20 bodyweight squats
  • 10 push ups
  • 20 walking lunges – 10 each leg
  • 10 dumbbell rows (using a gallon milk jug or another weight)
  • 15 second plank
  • 30 jumping jacks

Whenever you feel this workout became useless or too easy for you, do it x2

First of all, a protein powder never helps you to gain mass, it helps to build muscle, there's a big difference between a mass gainer and a whey protein.

If you want to gain mass without using any supplements, all you have to do is to get more meals a day, make sure you're eating the right calories for your body.

You can use the calories calculator on  bodybuilding.com depends on your body weight.

Kojotot (Member) ·

Right, building muscle is what I need. Not sure if I wanna start using whey protein though.

Food has always gotten through me so it's always been hard for me to get fat, chubby yes, but fat fat no. I remember when I was in Junior High my doc said I had a high cholesterol and that I should eat less fat and shit. My friends used to joke about me being "fat" but in reality I just had a tubby - and chubby cheeks. Anyways, now I've gotten thinner since I walk to school and back (even in the summer) and I workout every now and then. I drink this protein called "Whey" in the mornings. And I'm happy to say that I'm healthy now.

I'm no pro at this but there's a youtube channel that's been helping me out with weight lifting and overall workouts called Athlean-X. Ya'll should check them out.
