Character skills

I don't know if they have already included this in the script, but most probably they have not.

My suggestion is that user starts the game with 'X' number of character points that can be used to upgrade certain character traits such as "Willpower, Strength, Manipulation,  Appearance, Perception, Intelligence, Wits, etc". This is because mostly I've experienced that people power game their abilities almost all the time to be at a profit in role play situations. After levelling up, they get 'Y' number of points and can select which things they want to upgrade, which will be limited so they have to be selective.

In certain role play scenarios, they can use a /roll (Skill) or /dice (Skill) or something to obtain a number. Both the players involved, should do it.

For example: There are two players. Player A is being tortured by Player B to reveal some information. Here Player A's Willpower skill will play important role to resist giving him the information. So what Player A will do is he does the command and gets a number (that is generated keeping in mind of the user's Skill level) and Player B will do the same for Manipulation or something. Which ever has higher number will have upper hand in role play.

In normal scenario both Players would want their character to win unfairly. Player A will be role playing a very weak and fragile person but then  power game being tortured for hours and not giving information. So this will prevent that from happening.

It is a bit complex to explain, but looking forward to see it implemented on the server (or in later updates).

Yes, if some of you have played a particular server (not sure I'm allowed to name it here), the same system is being used and it turns out to avoid any such problems. However, for newbie players it is quite difficult to get accustomed to.

Hm,

I don't know man, I don't think I'm too fond of this suggestion. Personally, I think we should leave "script-power" out of this and let the players roleplay. Most of the examples you listed are useless and easily roleplayed without this system in place (appearance, intelligence, wits, etc). If people power-game you can report them and they can be punished accordingly, I get what you're trying to do, reduce someone's ability to powergame, but this isn't the way to go about it.

This is currently not included in the script and hasn't been discussed. I am in favor of removing all of the hour-earned perks (strength increase, spawn hp.) that you see on servers like LS:RP. That's solely my personal opinion though. The perks you listed that would go along with these points simply aren't feasible. It's going to be up to the community to be capable roleplayers and understand that you will take some losses (in reference to your interrogation example). Your suggestion just seems to add an unnecessary step for players to take while trying to roleplay.

I agree that I've included some bad examples to explain my suggestion but I really think something like this is needed.

Even for fighting for example someone tries to punch a person. In almost all scenario's the person will role play blocking the punch. Now this isn't entirely impossible and quite a good chance for blocking the punch if the person has "Agility" skill. So rather than reporting for such small things a system can be implemented. Like in most RP servers they just do /toss (TOSS a coin). But that is like 50% probability and if you're role playing a fat, lazy character that is trying to have inhuman reactions then isn't the best way to do it.

I guess again took a bad example. Will think of a good one and edit original post.

This isn't fallout, so no... I could see strength I guess but only as you level up.

Shit, no.

You can just roleplay how strong or how good looking you are etc. so I don't feel this is needed for the server.

Yeaaaaah

Doesn't fit a "roleplay" server, in MY opinion.

Sounds too much like an RPG. I'm against it.

No thanks.  If I wanted to min-max I'd play World of Warcraft.

Please no.

Here is the reason. Let's say there is a shooting skill which I need to upgrade and I need to spend about three months to reach the highest level, it limits me if I decide to roleplay ex Navy Seal or something like that, I might include in my background story that I am a bodybuilder and ex soldier with amazing knowledge of weaponry and skills to use them, but those "skill" upgrades will limit me as fuck.

No, this reminds me of other games such as FallOut...

This, without a doubt, wont happen.

This is too "RPGish" and not suitable for a role play server. Thanks for the suggestion nonetheless!
