Is this is roleplay or DM server?
Hit marker
Started by Gang Mentality,
How does a hitmarker makes it a "DM Server" or where you lot got that shit from? It's a simple feature to show whether your shots register or no. Not that you be shooting folks and on your screen you hit mad shots and they don't go down. Just cause you'd have a hitmarker doesn't mean folks go around DMing 24/7, use that dry ass noodle of yours.

This.

In agreement, this is too RPG-esque. I find that this sort of addition just gives too much of an edge to players dedicating time into DM servers - it's not helpful to the atmosphere. In fact, this might even turn away people from the server.
I'd rather not. If you miss, you miss. Hitmarker doesn't matter. You also don't always know if you've hit someone IRL.
This is a roleplay server not a RPG/DM one.
if this is such an issue for you download a blood mod so you can see the splatter better
also what zeno said above

Yes. Start making sense everybody. This has NO advantage/disadvantage whatsoever over roleplay. It's just a simple feature so stop calling it a RPGish/DMish feature just because you see others typing that shit in too.
@Bospy No, it doesn't make people dedicate time to DM servers. I mean lol, how? This was a BIG feature at P*RP, a BIG server that died out and was loved by everyone.
@Zenophobia Lol? So you shoot someone in the leg IRL and you're like "Oh idk if I shot him." That makes 0 sense.
@lordt Blood mods are retarded. You can shoot a tree and it'll splatter blood.
It doesn't make zero sense lol. Unless someone visibly reacts, you don't know if you've shot them. And people don't always react. There's a video online of someone being shot seven times by a cop and not reacting whatsoever until he drops a few seconds afterwards.

Just because it worked at PR-RP doesn't mean it'll work here. I'm not into this idea - it's just too gamey for me. It's really subjective, of course, don't take it too personally.

Hit markers are retarded. I don't want a larg X to pop in the middle of the screen when I shoot someone.

A hit marker doesn't exactly pose itself as a deathmatch element. It's more of the fact that it certainly isn't something that can benefit a roleplay scenario in any way. As an alternative, a chat bubble can be shown on the victim which shows the body parts that have been shot at. Any player that is within the victim's vicinity can see the chat bubble and take appropriate action.
I like Targus's suggestion better.
Talking about the hit marker's effect on RP:
Pros:
Tells you when you've actually hit someone, sometimes it's hard to OOCly keep track of whether you've shot someone and whether they ought to RP the effects of gunshots. Also, depending on the gun and the visibility of the target, this isn't always information the game's models and animations will tell you when in fact your character would have that information IC.
Cons:
Tells you when you've actually hit someone, depending on the gun and the visibility of the target, this isn't always knowledge you ought to have IC, in that sense it promotes MG.
Overall, I don't see the value in adding this, pretty indifferent as I'm sure many people are. It's a bit disturbing that some people actually care though, then again I don't see the value in shootouts as a whole and would prefer they be disabled in their entirety with people being required to emote all combat.

I like this much better, a hit marker is too RPG/DM-ish in my opinion, a bubble over the head displayed when the player is hit and saying where they were hit would serve the same purpose as that hit marker while also giving useful IC information to roleplay the injuries, it is a much better alternative for a RP server.

So just toggle it lol
I changed my mind. This might be usefull as long as you are able to toggle it off and on.
Hell no, this isn't realistic. How could you tell in real life if you shot a guy or not? There's no way in hell, this is just plain stupid. Not supporting.
As much as I like this idea, I feel it would ruin immersion to a certain degree. I think there's a nice element of mystery as to whether your bullets actually registered or not hitting the person in SAMP RP.
The thing is that they are rarely used on RP servers because they are no realistic.
Interesting points, thou I do think the point that "it makes it into a DM server" is idiotic.
