Forum badges/awards

Forum badges showcasing achievements as faction leader of a faction, statuses you possess, etc. Examples I can find are these: SAAS GeneralPresidentBeta Tester.

Of course it doesn't have to be like those, we could create our own versions, but that's just a general idea of how it'd look if it was placed under a user's profile. Thoughts? I think this'd serve as an incentive of some sort.

(Here's one I made to serve as another example: E80g8bw.png).

It would be cool to see something like this but I wouldn't want to see these big badges showing up above someone's avatar. Or possibly a place on your profile listing all your badges/awards.

If there's a badge plugin why not, there could be badges displaying below the "Character(s)" thing on threads, for instance when getting a most liked content trophy (which already is shown in user profiles) there could be a badge/icon for it. Could also have badges for accounts registered before server launch etc, just throwing ideas around.

I'm on another forum that uses this, +1 good idea.

I'm against this idea. Wouldn't really look that good design-wise. Also, it wouldn't look nice if the content of a post is overshadowed by its poster's high number of badges stacked in many rows (if we have one in the future).

this would be pretty cool to have on the forums

There should obviously be a cap on the amount of awards/achievements one has so it doesn't cause that problem.

Your suggestion is vague and open to various interpretations. Here's my suggestion to your suggestion:

Each and every user is eligible to gain as many badges as they want, but all of it won't be shown under the user's details when they make a post. Instead, they get to choose x number of badges that will be highlighted under their profile. Kinda like how Steam's badge feature works. You can earn a lot of badges, but you only get to showcase 3/4 badges of your choice in your Steam public profile page.

That's another fair idea/suggestion which I support.

I really like this idea however unless they're only presented when you visit someone's profile, I think they could unnecessarily add clutter.

My two cents.

Edit: I'm all for the idea though. +1
