[WEAPON] Registration system for PF guns

Say if you buy a gun from ammunition and you do a crime with it a couple minutes later. You shoot a gun, the bullet leaves a special mark on the bullet, police officers should somehow be able to get the bullets from the PF gun and trace it back to the owner. This would very much limit PF abuse, and create lots of RP on both criminal side and police side. Yeah, you can sell PF guns to others, but then if a crime happens you'll be the one to get the blame. This will make people with PF guns move smarter and in a realistic fashion instead of buying PF guns every other day to wipe out a block, or sell it to others.

"Registered Bullets"

I don't know about you, but I don't go and register bullets for my gun.  Hell, my gun isn't even registered in my name because my state doesn't require it.

In cali you need registration for handguns so bullets are easily traced back. Im from NY and gun laws are very strict like that too. Im guessing the state ur from is in the South

I've never heard of registering bullets before anywhere. As for the guns themselves CCW laws vary state by state. No idea on what Iowa requires since I don't own any guns. Also it would be very difficult if not impossible to convict someone of a crime more than accessory to whatever since there's no proof that they did it

I think that guns should be registered but not bullets

That's exactly my point - they should at least be registered on purpose.  An IC government can decide whether changing of registration should be made on private sale.

Yes, so tons of people won't get banned for PF abuse messing up the player base.

nice

Registering bullets goes a bit too far, and I doubt that's doable in real life. I mean, PF guns shouldn't even be used for crimes, unless the RP is really good. Ideally, guns should be used for crimes as a last resort, definitely not for robberies, and I think there should be some OOC rules surrounding PF licenses, like some sort of guidelines on what it should not be used on. Don't get me wrong, I am all in for freedom, but I wouldn't want people with legal guns going around robbing people.. I just can't see that happening in a state where guns are regulated (you can't get them without a license).

Registered pf and law law enforcement guns only make sense. The bullets should not be trackable though.

Registering bullets isn't a thing, please edit your original post to reflect this so others don't go off about it. Bullets fired can be compared to other guns to determine if they are fired from the same weapon, as SCANDALOUZ said "ballistics". All guns in real life have a serial number etched into them. These can be scratched off by criminals if they don't want the serial to be traced. I do not understand how ballistics testing works. If you find someone who is well-versed in ballistics testing, please contact them for better information pertaining to the topic.

Registering bullets isn't a thing but registering a gun is. Whenever a gun is fired it leaves a special mark on the bullet, so it makes the gun traceable same as registering the bullets. (The mark can atleast be compared when the gun is found, if not found from the registration). This system would improve Detective roleplay, /me supports.

Edit: to get into details within this system, bullets would have fingerprints of the shooter left on them while they were loading the bullets into the gun.

Thread edited. by registered bullets, i meant when the mark gets put on the bullet when shot. Was a misunderstanding from my part

Something along the same subject is currently being looked into.

This shouldn't just be force upon, The IC government would implement this first. Also that's making everything much easier for PD keep it equal unless the government insist.

I see your reasoning, i just felt like it would decrease DM, and have people move smart before killing. But its a game at the same time and we should make both sides equal

But there has to be a way to prevent abusing a weapon license effectively.

All weapons leave different striations on the bullet. After couple of shots they compare marks on the bullet. Deleting SN will make it untraceable to buyer but gun will always stay dirty unless you change barrel & trigger job.

Yeah, let's do it.
