The Kosovo Liberation Army (Ushtria Çlirimtare e Kosovës - UÇK) was an ethnic-Albanian paramilitary and organisation that sought the separation of Kosovo from the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY) and Serbia during the 1990s and the eventual creation of greater Albania. In 1999, with the fighting over and an international force in place within Kosovo, the KLA was officially disbanded, and their members entered the Kosovo Protection Corps, a civilian emergency protection-body that replaced the KLA and Kosovo Police Force, as foreseen in United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244. Former Kosovo Liberation Army leaders also entered politics, some of them winning high-ranking offices.
Bashkim Berisha served The Kosovo Liberation Army together with his brother Dardan Berisha, they come from Albania, Tropojë. After the war ended, they returned to their hometown "Tropojë", they were welcomed by everybody in their town. There was pain everywhere in Kosovo and some places in Albania, everything had changed it wasn't the same life as before. The brothers were unemployed and their families had no income, the two brothers had connections with former KLA captains. They began to sell KLA weaponary to everybody they could, only to make money. They kept this business going for a while and got few people working under them, until their connections ran out of stock.
Bashkim and Dardan has already made a lot of money, there wasn't a reason for them to still live in Albania. The brothers paid a large fee to traffickers to take them from Albania to San Francisco. The brothers landed in San Francisco, they are trafficking Albanians to San Francisco for a small amount of money. The Albanian connection in San Francisco is growing bigger and bigger. Time went on and the group started to get their hands dirty, they began to do illegal activities.
