In my opinion prison sentences should be like 2-3 hours max I mean who wants to sit in a prison for days lol? It's like an OOC prison and there's nothing to do

Listen..... I agree with you on most parts but Days instead of hours? This a video game that's a little too harsh but i understand its a punish but dang.... Ion agree with it broh.. I already think hours is enough... Plus its nothing to do in Prison but go afk and out wait the timer. Its not like we can play basketball or play cards or roll dice its boring.... Just stick to hours...

In my suggestion I recommended that there be means of shortening your sentence by hours through doing script-work to a certain extent in such a way that it is incremental. In addition to that, I suggested that if you spent the time in-game the sentence would be cut down by 50%. This could also be changed to be incremental - if you have 8 days (which is excessive), for example, spending it in-game lowers that by 75% and doing work in-game decreases the time by 2 hours. Let's say three days is the sentence and that's where 75% of the time is lowered if you spend it in-game. You spend 2 hours in-game. Your sentence is actually only 1 day and 6 hours when you're in-game, so you blast through six hours doing interesting roleplay and cut it down to maybe the point where it's acceptable. Let's say three days is actually the maximum sentence, and if you don't go in-game you can wait it out. But if you do go in-game, you can shorten it considerably.

The point is to allow the option of doing your time while offline.  That said:

You can play basketball.  You can play cards.  You can roll dice.  You can workout.  You can politic.  You can do drugs.  You can sell drugs.  You can do tattoos.  You can get tattooed.  The list goes on.  There's any number of things you can do in prison.

You can actually do a lot of that stuff. If they have something like /rnumber, you can play a variety of games. But you are kinda right.

If a lot of the things mentioned on this thread are eventually added, prison will be way more fun than it was. Maybe then, we can talk about days over hours.

I don't think anyone would want to spend days in a prison like LSRP's. I can see the sentiment there - but if there's proper script support, a good faction and hand to guide the prison, and active gangs running yard politics in the prison - I guarantee you'll get tons of enjoyment out of prison for the atmosphere.

I'd keep the time similar to LS-RP,  if people can go and shoot three people, and only serve two hours in the prison, it doesn't even make sense. If you don't want to serve time in prison don't commit any crimes, it's pretty simple.

Don't you love it when people break out the classic "it's a video game" line?

No. This isn't a video game, this a roleplay server which is established on a video game. There's nothing wrong with spending a couple, and to be specific, two nights in county jail while your criminal case is being proccessed before eventually being hauled off to one of San Andreas' state prisons so your character can be rehabilitated for the next 12 days. In total, that's what? 2 weeks (14 days) off the streets? The world isn't going to come to an end.

Why should we have to sacrifice realism and immersion just because you don't want to roleplay, especially since you can log onto single player and speed through the entire process? I support this suggestion. Should we establish a sentence and in real life time ratio? I feel like prison sentences should be roleplayed being longer than jail sentences.

Lmaoo Yeah.... How about just no? If you want realism then that would mean everything on the server has to be realisitc which woudn't happen. Days over hours is just not needed because no one gonna hop on bay area to do 2 days jail time when they can hop on another server fairly easily....

Which is why time would go down when you're offline, like I said.

Exactly. There's a ton of stuff to do! And San Andreas is based on California? You know what types of options we're given?

There's the Honor Program, conjugal visits, jobs to partake in... You might be surprised of the amount of jobs availible to inmates.

That doesn't necessarily make sense cause then people would just stay off to get there time knock down lol

Zenophobia (Member) ·

That's the point.  People who don't want to be there don't have to be there.  If people are forced to be in prison when they don't want to be, people will fuck around and troll.

I think 14 days is a bit excessive, but 2-4 days for serious sentences should be good enough.

This.  I wasn't talking about doing a week in prison for selling dope.

For starters, there are several different "classes" of misdemeanor crimes. These range from lightly-punished petty misdemeanors to relatively serious Class A misdemeanors. If you're charged with a petty misdemeanor, there's virtually no chance that you'll be sent to prison. Most petty misdemeanors are punishable by a relatively small fine of $300 or less. Examples of petty misdemeanors include petty theft and personal possession of certain controlled substances.

If you're charged with a low-level misdemeanor that's deemed to be more serious than a petty misdemeanor, you'll probably face a significant fine and may be required to participate in a community-service program. However, it's unlikely that you'll be incarcerated for such a crime. Low-level misdemeanors include vandalism, disorderly conduct and "disturbing the peace." Meanwhile, more serious misdemeanors like burglary and grand theft might be punishable by some jail time. In most cases, misdemeanor jail sentences can't exceed two years in length.

@Dopey Like I said, it's not the end of the world... The two paragraphs above support me, too. You're telling me if one characters murders another character they should be allowed to walk in and out within two days? Especially, when their time would go down when they're offline? If you say otherwise, you aren't here to roleplay and there's nothing wrong with realism, dude. It makes sense to spend two weeks in between jail, court, and prison for murder in oppose to two hours of "straight from the crime scene to prison" roleplay.

Nobody is supporting two-hour sentences for murder, but we don't have the infrastructure to support a system like that and making prison sentences that long would actually be an incentive to die rather than surrender. Everyone will RP reaching for their waistband so cops are forced to shoot them. It's not an ideal situation.

The quote in the post I made above should clear up what I meant... Several days for a misdemeanors that aren't even in serious? Hell no. A couple hours for vandalism, disorderly conduct, and "disturbing the peace." Serious misdemeanors such as grand theft auto and burglary? 2-4 days in between jail, court, and prison. I wouldn't expect anyone to spend a week in prison over getting caught with dope... That's light. I'm talking about for felonies (murder, manslaughter, rape, etcetera) because that can tie into investigations.

There's nothing wrong with spending a couple years, and to be specific, two months in county jail while your criminal case is being processed before eventually being hauled off to one of San Andreas' state prisons so your character can be rehabilitated for the next 12 years (real life years). In total, that's what? 12 years (144 months) off the streets? The world isn't going to come to an end.

Why should I sacrifice my realism and immersion just because you don't want to role play prison for more than a week?
